Sano to the DL with a Hammy, Kepler recalled

Well, like it or not we get to see Buxton get another chance and hopefully Kepler will get to play some more.  In regards to Kepler we need more guys who can get on base.    Fingers-crossed that Buxton shows improvement and Kepler gets to play.  I see Buxton had 2 K's last night.  I don't want to wish injury on any player but I was thinking it would be nice if Dozier pulled a hammy - so we could get to see Polanco come up and play for a regular stretch as well.

If Dozier gets hurt we'd just see some combo of Nunez/Escobar at SS/2b.

Hey, Rosario was heating up. I'm surprised they didn't make that move instead...someone who has played more significantly up here. Nothing against Kepler, but he's on a roll down there, coming off an injury, and could use regular play...unless they are playing him everyday up here.

Our big question is what to do with Arcia!

And Park! Park, second coming of Chris Colabello?! Get Park some time at first base and let Mauer DH. We know Joe ain't going anywhere. But let's see if we can increase Park's value with real playtime!

2 pulled hammies = injury prone?!?!  Dang, that's a pretty tough standard to clear the injury prone label

Apparently forgotten is the ligament replacement surgery Sano had--which is extremely unusual for non-pitchers.

I'm well aware that Sano is "the great hope" for many and as a result y negative comment is treated as heresy if not treason. Sadly, we must prepare ourselves for a Sano who won't be the "hero and savior" envisioned. He will hit, and for power, and better than this year--but will contribute little in the field. As a 3B the Twins will need to carry a ready-replacement for him--Sano will never be an "ironman".

Regarding Kepler, it is a month or so later and the Twins are in a different place. There still was a hope (however small) when he was recalled in April, while now they should be looking totally at 2017. I think the five players can all get plenty of time (Kepler, Buxton, Grossman, Park and Arcia) and maybe we will know a little bit more about all of them.

By the standard of two injuries = injury prone = get rid of him, the Twins should have cut bait on Killebrew, Oliva, Carew, Hrbek and Mauer, too.

Feels like a serious overstatement. Muscle pulls are never an issue of "prone-ness," it's a matter of preparation.

I like the idea of each OF getting a day off.  rotate them all.  I'm still not sure we know for certain what we have with Arcia, and I'd be OK with him playing every day to see if he can play.  But if that was the case, they should not have recalled Kepler, but rather called up anyone comfortable watching the game from great seats.

Unless you have a crystal ball, the above is pretty presumptuous on 2 accounts :)

If next years manager is NOT working with Kepler, and the likes of Kepler, in 2017, then this franchise is headed for years of the same!

Kepler-Buxton-Arcia should be the everyday OF.

Why invest in Grossman? Let him be the 4th OFer, as is his most likely peak.

I don't have a lot of hope for Arcia, but there are only so many more PAs available to give him an extended run to give you some basis from which to start making hard decisions prior to 2017.

You forgot to mention that Polanco would  be called up to assume the always important bench spot Molitor has designated for young players. Thats how young players develop at the major league level right?

It might have been a pretty mild strain, he only missed a week.  The minor league disabled list is shorter so it can be used more liberally than the MLB one.

Unless your name is Alex Meyer.

We may need to check the back of the milk cartons to find him... :-(.

Dear Paul Moiltor,

Please play Max Kepler while he's up.

Give him a fair chance to show what he can do.

Rotate your 4 OF'ers so nobody gets stuck on the bench.

Max Kepler will be someone you will have to work with in 2017 so you might as well start now.

Sincerely,

Riverbrian

This.

There is no point to having a promising rookie up for a team on pace to lose 100 games not play. Please play Max Kepler. For the love of God, play him.

Generally agreed, although I think the Twins may already be past the decision point for Arcia.  Looks like he's a backup, and soon could be a waiver candidate (they haven't even been using him as a bat off the bench, really, and this could mark the second corner outfield opening he's been passed over for in two weeks).

Grossman has started all 11 games in LF since he was recalled, during which time Arcia has started only 3, all in RF (two games were Park sat, and one for Sano).  Grossman is going to continue starting everyday, so the best we can really hope for is that Kepler plays over Arcia.

I read yesterday that he was getting a cortisone shot in his shoulder for inflammation. Should be pitching soon.

Quick report from Oakland: Sano trying to swipe at that one flyball "triple" by Burns in the second inning didn't look any prettier from a seat right behind the fair-foul pole than it must have from the normal camera view.

In fairness, the A's right fielder (I think it was still Coughlan) returned the favor almost identically, in the fifth as a favor to Grossman.

Ragged game.

I'm glad he didn't pull the hammy running in the outfield, people would have lost their minds.

In the small sample size from watching yesterday's game, he doesn't go all out for flyballs like he does for an infield hit. :)

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Moderator note: some will not recognize this as a quote from a movie. More humorous than the average personal swipe, but please everyone keep to the topic and stay away from characterizing one another. "This is too stupid to rebut" is not a rebuttal.

At this point I'd like to see a three man rotation in two spots - LF/DH with Park, Arcia, and Grossman.  Grossman is young enough to not totally abandon playing him, especially if he's hitting well.  But Kepler needs to play every day.

Is it okay to characterize oneself? I'd really like to be Roger Rabbit.

Unfortunately I have no faith in Mollie to actually play Kepler every day.

With only 4 OF on the roster in Buxton, Grossman, Arcia and Kepler you have to assume he is going to see a lot of playing time

While Grossman isn't really a prospect, the Twins need to find out about him, as well. For as long as Sano is out, I think he can fit in a rotation.

wasn't just last night's game.

we have nothing to lose by playing Kepler every day.  this season is perfect for giving as much experience to the young guys as they can get. we play in, arguably, the worst division in the AL and still have the worst record in the AL by a sizable margin.

Until the Maestro comes back.    Isn't he back in a week?   Then Max probably goes down.

I don't know....Grossman seems like a prospect to me. Sometimes guys develop late. I'd like to see the 4 of them play every three days, as it were, in a rotation.

I'd really like to see what all 4 can do.

The way Park has looked, let's not forget plenty of at bats can be found for Arcia at DH as well.  I prefer Buxton + Kepler to play every single day if possible.
