They were saying Plouffe is day to day, so I don't think he's going to the DL. So I agree with Chief, Kepler's likely going down.

Excited to see Polanco play! Hopefully he gets more than a cup of coffee compared to years past, and gets more playing time than what they gave Kepler.

so, more time for him to sit up here and do nothing, or will he get to play this time?

I think it really depends on how Plouffe progresses.  Nunez to 3rd, which would put Polonco as the main back up for all infield positions for the time being, which I am guessing he would get a few starts in there to spell guys.

That makes some sense, but I think we all would've assumed the same with Kepler, primary backup at multiple positions... considering Buxton, Park and Rosario were struggling, Buxton missed 3 games with an injury... and Kepler started what, 1 game?

Being 100% completely serious, if Molitor is never going to use the 4th bench bat why not just do what this team always did in the past which angered us so much?  Bring up another reliever or better yet bring up a catcher so Molitor doesn't have to grow a pair to pinch hit for Suzuki in the 8th?

I am not going to be happy if Polanco, Kepler or some other youngster is parked on the bench when this team is back to full strength.

This is also a very real option.

Kepler needs to play every day. So I'm fine with him going down.

If Plouffe isn't DL'd, Kepler going down is the only move.  Nunez will be 5th OF and Jorge the primary infield depth until Santana or Plouffe are ready to go.

The Twins will make a decision on a possible disabled list stint for Trevor Plouffe (intercostal) by Wednesday.

History says this is a 3 week injury minimum.

Frankly, I don't understand what they are waiting for.

I'm glad they are moving faster on this than they did in the past.

Me too.  Santana and Perkins were both to the DL very quickly as well.

While he has yet to truly find his spot on the diamond, unfortunately, Polanco is one of my favorite Twins prospects, and has been for some time.

He signed with the Twins as a good glove, questionable bat prospect with speed. After a rather non-descript season or two in the low minors, he suddenly turned in to a versatile hitter who usually began the season up top, before sliding to the 3rd spot in the lineup. (Which I just read he did again at Rochester-as did Gordon if I read things correctly)

I know there has been some concern regarding him defensively, which is odd considering the initial reports on his signing. But I also think he's too young, too talented, to write him off defensively either. He wouldn't be the first infielder who just needed experience and the right move for his glove to start playing. But every level he has been at the last few of years, he has flat out hit and produced. I would really hate it, and believe the Twins would regret it, if he was given up on too soon.

Could he handle 3B instead of Sano if and when Plouffe might be traded? Could Dozier, a former SS, make a transition to 3B and Polanco take over 2B? Could he be a versatile and valuable utility player for a year or two before this all settles down? Time will tell. But this is a young man I'm really excited about, and eventually, the Twins will have to make room for.

I agree. I hope Polanco gets a legit shot. Is he out of options next year? (this is the 3rd year he's coming up, so that's why I say this). I'm excited to see what he can do.
