#MNTwins sign lefty Buddy Boshers to MiLB deal w/ invite to spring training, per source. Precious MLB experience w/ Angels.. According to Darren Wolfson. Is this our big move? Looking like it..

*uncontrolled vomiting*

Objectively, it's not a bad move... But come on, they need a real LHRP and another real RHRP would be nice.

Ryan's inactivity has frustrated me too, but I don't see what that has to do with the Twins signing a guy to a minor league contract. This move doesn't stop them from doing any other move since it is a minor league signing.

I will stick my neck out and assume this is NOT the big move...

There's nothing wrong with it but after seeing most of the good relievers go off the market, it's hard not to be a *little* concerned about what is happening with the bullpen this offseason.

There's still time to fix it but the options are dwindling.

Hmmm, Antonio Bastardo or Buddy Boshers?

Close TR........close.

This is pretty much TR's standard method of adding to a bullpen...find "free" players, bring to camp, somewhere between 0 and 3 make the team opening day.

lather, rinse, repeat.

The only problem left with a BIG MOVE is that it likely includes a trade of a prospect, sine Plouffe is off the table! While I doubt that will happen, if it does, I fear it would not be anything I would like!

Should have read: Lather, rinse, repeat, apologetic interview with sympathetic media member bemoaning the serious effort, lack of success, and fortuity of still finding capable arm! (Whoops, forgot the requisite, "The Pohlads have assured me, that money is not an issue")

Yeah, like the Fien tender, there is nothing wrong with this move by itself, but it still represents zero progress on a bigger move.  And if history is any guide, it's perhaps a sign that there will be no bigger moves.  Obviously minor league free agents (or Tim Stauffer, or Kurt Suzuki, or tendering Brian Duensing) shouldn't have stopped them from bigger additions the last 4 winters, but they apparently did.

Doubt this is the big move.  Nothing wrong with this.  The AAA roster needs to be filled.  You never know, he could go all Ryan Madsen and have a great year.

I guess it's a good thing that we won't be dragging along a rule 5 pick just so that we don't lose him.

Uh, Ryan Madson had 5 great years in row before he came to the Royals, just missed a lot of time with injuries in between.  Buddy Boshers (and Dan Runzler before him) has neither that upside or likelihood of success.

Nothing wrong with either signing, but if we are hoping to uncover the next Madson somewhere, we should be aiming higher.  (Rich Harden was a bit closer to that level of potential.)

It may be a minor league signing, but "Buddy Boshers" is a major league name!

It's still a minor league signing, hence the move to the minor league forum. He hasn't played on the Twins major league team ever ... hopefully ever.
