Twins extend PLópez!

Wow, that's a pretty great deal if the terms are accurate.  He falls into that Gausman/Ray/Rodon price range, but basically only a three year commitment. Those guys all got 5-6 year commitments.

Love it! Lopez, Paddack, Ryan locked in for multiple years with an MLB track record. Then see if Ober, SWR, Varland, or someone else steps up on the back end.

He's given the Twins every reason to want to keep him here long-term. I don't think there's any doubt that if he stays healthy, this is a great deal.

And if he's talking extension with his new team in April, it seems like a good indicator that HE wants to be here too.

I like this a lot.  If they're going to keep giving up players and/or prospects, it's nice to see them keeping those that they acquire around longer than their current deal.

Yea, team!

I want to compliment you on spelling yea correctly. Yay is a commonly-used spelling and has become acceptable over the course of time, but yea, meaning yes, is the most correct. IMHO, of course.

Are we going to have a P-Lo and J-Lo situation?

If I know about it I'll keep it on the down LO.

The pipeline is coming into focus. I like this signing a lot. It takes the sting away from trading Arraez.  Heck, Arraez has made an out in almost half of his at bats.

Since we're talking pitching, I'm really excited to build around a Lopez/Ryan rotation. I think both of those guys are pretty similar and I love that they are tinkers that are adding velocity/pitches to their mix. This to me bodes well of them continuing to stay ahead of the current adjustment from hitters to their patterns.

I'm also really excited about Varland/Ober as backend of the rotation options. I couldn't believe that Varland was throwing 97mph and Ober's stuff continues to get better.

That is really close to an elite SP foundation locked up for multiple years. I think they have a number of options as well to fill out the rotation and have depth.

We've seen this year what having 3 guys who are at least at a good #2 level looks like (Gray, Lopez, Ryan). I think in the regular season it's important to continue to try to have that and in the playoffs it would be great to find a guy who is in the tier above Lopez/Ryan but that's not easy to do.

Hanging out with Renaissance Faire folk all these years has paid off.
