Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Alright, everyone. Pile on.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I'm OK not getting Swanson. And SS was filled when we traded for Farmer. THAT'S what I'll pile on for.
FlyingFinn Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Royce Lewis - get healthy, come back soon, come back great. SS is yours.
Heistyman Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Time to start the rebuild. Joy to the world another rebuild.
CRF Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Another "not a surprise" signing. If he didn't go back to Atl, he was going to the Cubbies.
SanoMustGo Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Time to bring back Denny Hocking...anyway it doesn't matter, this team has proven NOTHING the last 3 seasons. I won't expect anything different from this organization.
CRF Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Just saw that it was for 7 years and $177 mil. We sure could've done that if we wanted to.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 (Not really. By now I'm just numb to all this.)
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 My pitchfork has broken and my torch burned out. You guys carry on without me!
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Hey, the Vikings won! There's that!
specialiststeve Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Am guessing you "purposely" spelled Dansby's name wrong.. LOL
jmlease1 Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 And that completes the clean sweep: zero impact free agent signings. (sorry, Vazquez & Gallo are not impact players) Swanson wasn't my first, second, or third pick but bringing him in would have raised the ceiling on this team. 7 years is fine; we'll see if he hits enough to be worth it, but considering we just gave $11M to Joey freakin' Gallo it doesn';t seem too bad. So far, the front office have failed badly this off-season. They've done a poor job of deploying their financial resources, they've failed to address most of the team's needs (impact starting pitching, starting SS, RH slugging, power relief arm). They solidified catcher. Yay. Total wipeout on everything else. Hells bells, we're still stuck with Pagan on this roster.
Deadfan Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Well when they piss and moan about the ticket sales being down we can all point to this offseason as the reason. Gonna be lucky to finish in 4th place in 23
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Hmmm, no more TV dinners.

Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Not surprised not disappointed, Eventually Lewis will help us forget
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I’ll pile on with the rest of the off season misses, but this was a good miss. Offensively he’s rarely better than average. Seven years? Good lord, if he’s the best SS you can figure out in the next seven years, you figured poorly.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Correa gets 13/350 and Swanson gets 7/177. That’s basically half the contract. No way in my opinion is Correa twice as valuable as Swanson. I do value Swanson‘s ability to stay healthy and am just not sold on Correa being a top 5 player.
Steve71 Verified Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 That is a long, rich contract. I think we dodged a bullet on that one. The only big contract I wish the Twins would have paid is Rodon's, and he would not have signed that with the Twins anyways....and it is the riskiest of the bunch. Sign a couple of relievers and hope the young and injured play great!

The Twins are great at dodging bullets. They're like Neo from the Matrix at making sure they never sign above average players in free agency.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Meh. No surprise here. Minnesota only pretends to go for elite contracts. The issue is not signing the next layer, but instead signing bad players, like Happ and Shoemaker.
