Fernando Romero Starting Wednesday

My guess is that who gets sent down will depend on who gets worked hardest Tuesday. Obvious candidates are Hildenberger, Rogers, Magill, Duffey and Curtiss in no particular order. Does Magill have an option? Not that I would be concerned about losing him. Just wondering.

Very good, and he's coming up even earlier than I thought. Let's hope he can dominate and stick in the rotation, though unfortunately the precedent for Twins rookie starters is to pitch very poorly. Perhaps Romero, with his dominant stuff, can break the mold.

Is that a day game or night? Hope it's night so I can watch him pitch!!

It's a day game, of course.

But still, yes!!!! I'll have to watch the replay.

Who votes for President For Twins Rookie Starters? Just other rookies or can all the players vote. Precedent, not president.

Duffey has already been optioned, for Curtiss.

Magill is out of options, and could elect free agency if we tried to pass him through waivers and outright him (having been outrighted previously in his career).

Encouraging. He may not be ready but the experience won’t hurt him in the long term and will likely help. This Twins team should be focused on the long term.

I'd rather see Enns or Enlow.

Are you referring to Blayne Enlow? He was drafted last year and has 2 starts above rookie ball (and they haven't gone particularly well). Him attempting to face mlb hitters right now would make Hughes look like Walter Johnson.

Enns is more realistic, but I'd like to hear you expand on why you'd rather see him than Romero?

Hopefully at least one of the Fernando's will be a successful pitcher for the Twins this season.

Even if Romero gets lit up, I'd rather have a young pitcher taking his lumps and learning from it than an old one who doesn't have it any longer.

. I don’t know about that. That Blyleven kid did pretty well in his rookie year.

Good deal. No reason not to at this point.  Even if they cap him at 80-85 pitches for awhile, it's a shot at some real production.  There might be some 4 inning outings due to walks being higher out of the gate, but I bet he also makes some batters look silly on some swing and misses. Those would still be longer outings than what Hughes has given.

Leach or Littell would work too.
