I mean, you have 8 guys in the pen, a day off tomorrow, and a day off Friday.  I don't think the pen needs to be saved.  Barring us getting back into the game however, Kinley needs to pitch today.

good points all around. I still leave him in. I want to see what he has if I'm the Twins.

But yes, if they are way behind, Kinley better pitch today.

I can acknowledge that Lynn has been all over the place thus far, but if that dope behind the plate doesn't start calling strikes, this is gonna be a long game.

In light of Lynn's total lack of control, and how this inning spiraled out of control by his lack of control, I will step down from the soapbox of umpiring being a major part of MLB's 'pace of play' issue.

But not for long...

Hate to say it but that one missed called strike may have cost Lynn 4 runs....well, that and the 3 walks.

On a positive note if there is one, there are plenty of innings left to mount a comeback.

It's too early in the season for positive thinking.

I'm guessing the end result of all the shift happy defenses is that guys will have to improve their bunting skills.  At least that is my hope.

Now is the time to offer Lynn an extension.   I'm only half kidding.    Do  you think he would consider it before going out for the 2nd inning?

If player values updated in real time graphs like stocks, I'm guessing that Lynn's 'buy low' valley came right as the luxury box windows shattered when Moran's grand slam passed through the sound barrier.

So are we not allowed to bunt against the shift now?

It took about 18 hours for us to see the shoe on the other foot.

Would be a great time to see Joe pull one into the right field corner and let out a triple

Tallon strikes out the side. With all the months spent on emphasizing pitching this off-season, one would think they'd have time to spend a few days stressing the importance of making contact. "Close your eyes and swing, boys!" appears to have been the instructions.

Buxton looking like he is in true April form.

0-2 curveball in the dirt. How can you not guess that's coming??!

Curveball, high fastball, curveball in the dirt. That's how to strike out Buxton in 3 pitches. The Pirates know this, we know this...seems the Twins hitting coaches do not.

That quote by Dozier was one of the dumbest things I've ever read.  I want every team to bunt against the Twins when they shift now.

Yep, that last inning shows how stupid it is to be upset by that. There's no clock in baseball, and crooked numbers can happen in a hurry.  You play to the end, especially when the other team is doing everything it can to stop you.

And if I'm a manager, my lefties are having lots of practice in spring training learning how to bunt the opposite way, because that's exactly what they would be doing if the defense puts an extreme shift on them.

Exactly.  It's like a basketball team getting upset that when they double the post, the offense takes an open 3.  Or a football team fuming when the offense passes the ball every time they put 8 in the box.  I don't mind some of baseball's unwritten rules, but the Infallible Guide to the Appropriateness of Bunting drives me insane.

I think we all jinxed Lynn with those articles about starting pitching yesterday. I guess the pressure got to him!

Did i jynx him too? I am terribly sorry.

I got a sneaking suspicion Pittsburgh might have something to do with it.

Is this a typo, or did you mean to spell it like that?  If you meant to do that, I think you've spent too much time with Pokemon.
