Cory Engelhardt Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 When, exactly, will the Twins announce a move/acquisition for a starting pitcher. Bonus points if you are right about the pitcher they acquire. The prize is glory. And a job well done. Since I asked this question, I'll say Friday, 2/16/18 and 1:12pm. I'm guessing there will be some rumors in the morning, but the official announcement will come soon after the lunch hour, central time. My guess is Jaime Garcia. What say you?

MagnusVonMagnuson Provisional Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Trade for Jake Odorizzi today (02/14/18, due to Odorizzi being a HUGE fan of Valentines Day) @ Approx. 2pm, costing your MN Twins; Kepler & Romero & Sign Alex Cobb this Friday (02/16/18) @ 11am. This is based on the fact that Falvrey is a world renown cobb salad fan. Regardless, make something happen for any reason Twins. PLEASE!
twinssporto Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 This is soooooo easy. Announcement today at 3:30 CST. Twins sign Arrieta to a 4 year $90mm contract with incentives to earn $110mm.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Feb 17, 1520Z...Twins announce they have purchased the contract of Texas Ranger minor league signee Bartolo Colon, in exchange for future considerations.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Alex Cobb - 4 year deal worth $68m on FridayThis would be my guess, though maybe it'd happen next Friday because of how slow everything has been proceeding.
HrbekRules Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Well, I know it won't be Hector Santiago (just signed with the White Sox). Lance Lynn (not who I want them to sign), Monday at 4:22pm Eastern.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Coming off arm surgery
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Doubt itI wouldn't be so sure. I have no expectations. I'm assuming signing/trading for a #5 guy doesn't count (assuming Garcia is probably a #4 type)
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Crickets. We're going with what we've got. So to answer the question, are you going with the MLB draft in June? Which day? Although they'd have until August to actually sign them... I don't recommend it, but it's a interesting thought experiment to project the Twins never signing or acquiring another starting pitcher again, ever. At what point do they run out? Better to promote minor league depth guys, or just use the bullpen for all 9 innings? (Then Rod Serling reveals that we're actually living in that world now, and all of our starting pitchers are actually just long relievers!)

jud6312 Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Apparently Jake Peavey is attempting a comeback. If that doesn't scream "Twins Way" I'm not sure what does.
jimmer Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Well, Santana likely comes back in May, right? And then Trevor May in May as well? There you go :-) No, seriously, they aren't going to sign anyone who will move the needle so maybe next Wednesday? Jaime Garcia.
lukeduke1980 Verified Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 March 20th - after announcing that Matt Bush and Bartolo Colon will make the rotation, Texas Rangers trade Martin Perez of the 115 strikeouts in 185 innings fame to the Minnesota Twins for Alan Busenitz.
Respy Provisional Member Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Alex Cobb, Friday, Feb 16th, 11am. Followed by celebratory lunch buffets at Pizza Ranch.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Glen Perkins, Monday Feb 19th. Joining Hunter, Hawkins, Cuddyer and Morneau in some kind of vague front office capacity.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I will also try Jaime Garcia, Saturday the 17th

I think he'd cost more than Busenitz, but he wouldn't be someone I'd hate to add either.
