None of these is even close to ‘borderline top 100.’ None of the three even make the Twins top 30 according to MLB.com.

I strongly suspect something was on the table that was worth well more than a QO based on the return of the other catcher (even taking into account another year)... but Zoll overplayed his hand and thought he could get more That's possible I suppose. But if that's the case the Yankees have to be kicking themselves right now, because they ended the day without addressing their biggest need on the same day the Red Sox got Rutschman. "Calling the bluff" just leaves them with no answer behind the plate. It was pretty clear the Twins were looking to buy, not sell this year. Knowing that, the Yankees should have upped the ante if they expected to pry Jeffers away. Not a good deadline for NY. My Yankee fan friends are pissed. 3rd place in the East is suddenly a very real possibility for them. TL and Mike Sixel 2

The Twins got three pretty bad players and gave up a healthy amount for that. What they did get are guys who've pitched before. Way, way, way too much to give up for this all. Hill and Reyes are two of the less than 7-8 guys I wouldn't give up for anything but a great return. Pena is probably nothing, but I wouldn't give him up as a throw-in for this kind of value. It's a pretty ugly deadline. Did the Twins get what they needed? Probably not, and that answer should be an easy yes for Reyes, Hill, and Pena. 3 pretty bad players??? Well good grief 1-Minter came with a 2.35 ERA, which is about 2.28 now and a 1.00 WHIP. 2-Kremer has a 4.37 lifetime ERA to replace Matthews over 5 ERA and Prielipp’s close to 5 ERA. 3-These are Hoffman’s stats since the beginning of June IP- 22.1 H-13 ER-3 BB-8 K-30 ERA-1.21 Hawkeye Bean Counter, TL, DocBauer and 4 others 7

Can't confirm for some reason, but I'm pretty sure any postseason time doesn't count against him. Personally I'd hope none of this matters in the least in any decision to add or not add Jenkins. Correct — post season time doesn’t add to days of service. At least some teams have been pretty upfront about preserving rookie status. A year ago, the Orioles were saying in June or July that Basallo wouldn’t be up before the mid-August date that was in play. They also waited to bring up Beavers. USAFChief 1

IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’ve been on the “just tinker and do Sergio Romo for Lewin Diaz-level trades” bandwagon, so I’ve liked their three moves. Here’s why I like what they’ve done on the pitching side for 2027: SP — Ryan, Lopez, Bradley, Ober, Kremer, Prielipp, Abel, Matthews. RP — Hoffman, Morris, Gomez, Banda, Nance, Anderson, Sands, Funderburk. TBD — Rojas, Festa, Paredes, Raya. I may have missed some folks. You might categorize them differently. I’m not overly concerned on the order at this point. If you want to add another vet to the bullpen, fine. I’d love to see Minter show his worth and get re-upped. And then an offense that, though perhaps it’s smoke and mirrors, is still atop the league in runs scored and only has Jeffers and Bell as free agents. Me likey overall. In the minors he’s averaged 3.75, hitting mostly at the top of the order. At that rate, he could play 34 full games. Sit him against a few tough lefties. Use him as a defensive replacement in a few others. Bat him 6th or 7th. It shouldn’t be difficult to manage. USAFChief and LA Vikes Fan 2

Walks way up, can't blow anyone away with a fastball anymore, I’d be fine if they let him go, but I’m also fine with keeping him around. He’s got 40 innings so far, so realistically, dropping him tomorrow probably only frees up 12-15 innings for someone else, less when you consider adding another pitcher to the roster in a few weeks. Having him around as one more mentor for developing pitchers may be worth as much as getting someone a dozen innings, and I suspect they don’t want to mess with the team mojo by dumping a well-regarded veteran. You’re right that the addition of Minter and Hoffman puts an even higher premium on roster spots. With these moves and adding Kremer to the rotation, it will be interesting to see how they manage the 26-man. You may want to keep some of that coin from the E-tablet to have available for some St. Paul Shuttle tickets. 😀

Rojas might balance the slate, but generally the team that wants something at the deadline doesn't get the kind of future value the Jays did. It looks like it is going to work out very well for them. A win for sure. If the Twins still had Varland they wouldn't have needed the 33 year old Hoffman. Losing even more future assets to the Jays to replace Varland's production for only this year and next. One of the prospects we had to give up is a potential front line starter just like Rojas. I'd argue the Twins got the short end here, but we'll have to see how Hill and Rojas work out.
