No reason to keep Lopez or Ryan for next year, expect to see them moved in the offseason. I hope you enjoy your 50-win Twins next year, I’d expect to see Lopez (and his contract) dealt in the offseason; not sure about Ryan. Vanimal46 1

None of them help what is going to be a completely rebuilding. A rebuilding team with, ironically, a strong starting rotation in 2026. Patzky 1

Do you really think the team manager is the one who is supposed to develop individual players? He's the one making the big decisions, not the one showing a short stop how to field a ball properly. He certainly can't teach a pitcher how to throw a proper sinker, or add 5 MPH to a fastball. Its ok to not like Rocco, but need to hold him accountable for things he's actually responsible for. There are others in the organization who are responsible for player development to be unhappy with (and rightly so), thats just not in Rocco's job description. ihc70 1

I have no idea how things line up today, but when Carl Pohlad bought the Twins, his personal wealth was said to be greater than George Steinbrenner’s. The difference was Steinbrenner wanted to win and Pohlad just wanted to make a profit. So yeah, they’ll foot the bill for one superstar, as long as they keep the rest of the payroll nice and compact. But why bother if keeping him doesn’t even get you a .500 ball club or into the playoffs? Send the guy someplace he can finish his career with a winning team. farmerguychris 1

If he wanted to stay he would have. But remember, we were his third option a couple years ago and we took him back like an old desperate flame. This was a predictable result. Yeah, the only reason Correa was a Twin was because they were the only ones dumb enough to guarantee him $200M with a broken body. He seems like a politicker, a shady character. Aggies7 1

I'm sure the Twins are still looking to get rid of the Castro & Vazquez contracts. Vazquez back to the Astros? Anyone pissed at this has good reason, but is it possible, just maybe, that the other MLB player or players in the deal are coming back to the Twins?

It wasn’t like no one knew he was going to be iffy—two teams had withdrawn their offers after seeing the results of his physicals. The Twins made him an offer anyway. It is absolutely on Rocco or any manager to set the tone and get the right coaches and give them the tools to develop the players. It is also how players are used that helps develop players, by putting them in the best position to be successful. Who do you think developed the Twins way back in the late 80's, hint it was TK. They just elect not to spend the money. BUT - they'll never spend a penny of the savings from this trade on the team. Well,,,,time will tell...let's see how he performs in Houston. If he fails to show productivity, it will prove that it was worth it. It is obvious that Correa wanted to move back to his home area of Houston. He could have blocked the trade if he wanted to stay in Minnesota. I don't disagree with your thought on them wanting to save money and reinvesting. It is despicable. My feelings center on the idea that he is aging and the production isn't there. Realistically. next season... hopefully, if they sell the team... will probably mean a new manager as well as new FO. That will be a building year. 2027 will probably be a strike season...so...I don't see the disadvantage of the trade....regardless of them saving money. Correa is simply not a difference maker due to his susceptibility to injury, age, and simply would not be a difference maker to making the playoffs.

Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I was hoping that the Twins weren't going to tear this down because I still have faith in the core & didn't trust Falvey to trade them. But I'm not surprised because Falvey was running out of excuses, so hey, it's not my fault, it's the core. I was hoping that Falvey & Co.would be gone so the team could run correctly. Since they are still here, they aren't going to make in the playoffs so just as well blow it up, like I've said before but I'd rather someone else doing the negotiations. How long will it take before we have a team that can compete again? Depends on how fast the crew that comes after Falvey can clean up the mess & put things back in order. IMO, it'll be a long time.
