Matthew Lenz Twins Daily Editor Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Our Twins are looking to clinch the series against the White Sox with Joe Ryan on the bump! He’s been LIGHTS OUT so far this year and is due some positive regression after getting dinked and dunked in his last start against the Detroit Tigers. Joe’s splitter is a large reason for his success early on in 2024. He’s added 500 rpms of spin resulting in a higher whiff rate and lower expected results (xBA, xSLG, etc.), per Baseball Savant. He’ll be throwing it to a team that ranks 21st in baseball in their productivity against the pitch. In other words, we might see another double digit strikeout performance from Joe! Lets go, Twins! wabene 1

wabene Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Stack em up! Just imagine the stress on the pitcher if he had to switch gears and pitch to a lefty. The Twin's front office are too nice of guys to do that to a person. Riverbrian 1

Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Oof. I'd much rather have Jeffers at C and give the DH spot to either Kirilloff or Larnach. Yes, I know. An unhittable lefty pitcher awaits. But I'd still rather one of them in the lineup ahead of Vazquez.
CRF Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Are we going to knit a victory tonight, or just Crochet one? Riverbrian, Craig Arko, USAFChief and 3 others 4 2
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Baldelli should be fired for that lineup alone. CRF, RpR, Dave Borton and 3 others 4 1 1

GeorgeLooney Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Farmer is seriously in the lineup again! Vazquez, Farmer, Santana, and Margot…..eh. RpR and MABB1959 2
SD happy Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 This lineup is a head scratcher. Margot batting third? I’d rather take my chances with Kepler or Larnach vs the left hander. weneedneshek and wabene 2

CRF Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Rocco playing lineup roulette again, or throwing darts. Your guess is as good as mine.
Schmoeman5 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Crochet has had 3 really good starts and 2 not so good. He has 34K in just under 26 IP. So it looks like it depends on which Crochet shows up. Let's hope Roccos lineup comes through tonight. I've seen some good swings from Buxton and Santana as of late. Perhaps they'll carry the load tonight. Jeffers, Miranda, and Martin can help. Maybe the birthday will spur Willi on. Farmer Margot and Vasquez are overdue. Hoping the Twins can bring it on home.
IaBeanCounter Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Its hard to justify Farmer getting the start just because its a LHP. He is 0-12, Miranda is 3-9 and Julien 5-15 vs LHP. I would have Julien in place of Farmer at 2nd and Miranda at 3rd. I also would have Buxton leading off ahead of Jeffers. If Jeffers gets a hit ahead of Buxton and Buxton then follows with another hit I'm afraid Buxton's hit will go from a double to single or a triple to a double. Ryan had better be on, because this lineup doesn't look good. Dave The Dastardly 1

Perhaps this is the explanation: The front office has decided to test the question of whether a manager's choices make a difference, so every other game they override his decisions on the spreadsheet with random selections. At the end of the season, they will compare the results of Rocco's decisions vs. the random ones. Not sure where I'd put my money ...

Who is he supposed for drive in, when the 7/8/9 hitters are hitting .150, .073, .169? Help me understand the craziness that Baldelli is exhibiting with a lineup like that. Good grief, man. stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Every position player is going to play at least as the short side of a platoon. We haven’t seen many lefty starters lately so it figures we will see all the right handed hitters.
