I'm going to put this message up every game thread until all May dates have been spoken for! :) We still have 4 dates open in May and are looking for starters ... who will the takers be? @Buffy the Twins Fan? @PDX Twin? @Vanimal46? @ashbury? Just do it! Contact stringer bell today! :) Go Twins! (If I didn't call your name today, I'll get you in tomorrow ... until all dates have been spoken for.)

No other way to put this -  poor game management by Baldelli. Why would you send a guy back out for a third inning who has been a one and two inning pitcher .... in the minor leagues. There are nine pitchers in the bullpen and he sends Cano back out.

I am not optimistic about today's second game.  This looks like a slaughter.

The other option was Stashak....which...we're seeing how that goes.

I looked away for like five minutes and now it's a blowout.

Good to see Stashak was prepared and ready to pitch today. Good grief when he's bad he is awful.

Looking on the bright side, I just saw a picture of Cano with his hat off and I'm very delighted. He has hair like Bert from Sesame Street.

And to think, they still have 3 more innings to pitch in this game!

Plus another 9 in the 2nd game!

Just imagine if last night's 3 innings got washed clean and it was a full doubleheader

Anyone know who the designated position player pitcher is? My bet is on Nick Gordon

The Marlins have an off day today. How quickly can we get La Tortuga up here?

Get two great innings from a rookie. First game. WHY push your luck. You have other arms in the pen.

Feel bad for Stashak.

Well... the Twins have to play 9 more innings today and finish this game. They need to have some arms left to play Cleveland, which as a division rival is a bit more important. Imagine if there is a blow out in game 2. Right now all they need is sacrificial lambs.

That actually is not the point .... but, yes, Stashak went thud. Stashak was one of 9 options.

Feel sorry for Stashak??

It's the major leagues. He's paid to pitch. Get somebody out, FFS. How many pitchers you want Baldelli to run through today?

I had a high school bb coach who came out to the mound and threatened the pitcher to never let him pitch again, during the season,  if he gave up another hit.  The pitcher had given up like 6 or 7 hits. The pitcher looked like he was gonna cry.

He finally took a deep breath, and buried the next pitch in the batter's ribs.  It was the only pitch he threw with accuracy all day, lol.

Maybe they were hoping to get 5 innings in? Assuming the score held up to that point, then the game would have been final rather than suspended, and we wouldn't need to play the remaining innings.

They need to have a better grasp on what's happening than that. I live maybe... eight miles?... as the crow flies from Target Field. At the end of Archer's inning, I turned off the TV and tornado sirens were going off in my neighborhood.

AND THEN THEY PLAYED ANOTHER HALF INNING.

I just got home from the golf course and see the the ‘Stros put up a big number on Canó and Stashak. The reason for trying to give Canó a third inning and letting Stashak take a beating are pretty clear. There are fourteen innings to cover. Somebody is going to be extended. As Houston turned the game into a laugher, it is more clear that the Twins shouldn’t waste resources on a lost cause. Cano’s line looks crummy and Stashak is wearing a bit hit on his stats. That’s the way it happens sometimes.

Right. If I feel sorry for anyone, it's Cano, who after a nice 2 IP ML debut and shouldn't have been sent out for a 3rd inning.

Golf course, you say.

How'd you shoot?

Turtles are not known for the speed at which they travel from point A to point B.

I feel sorry for anyone with eyeballs who had to watch that inning

I know the twins are ravaged by injuries but boy of boy we get outclassed by good teams.

Careful, the SSS crew might find this post.

Seriously though, it's funny how that argument only seems to apply to one side.

It wasn't pleasant listening on the radio, either, even if Gladden's tone grew rather humorous as the inning progressed.

Yes, he was one of the 9 choices. I guess you might say he made the wrong choice.
