At least Cave battled a bit and made Giolitto work. Hope we don't see him in the 9th, although if I were the White Sox manager I'd send him out there.

Yep and because of these two losses, this weekend must be a sweep. Keep losing room for error

And if the Twins lose Game 1 against the Tigers, it'll be time to panic again. They keep putting themselves in positions that a potential collapse is right around the corner.

This is why we needed to win Monday’s game... because games like this are going to happen.

The Twins are not great in home games... still haven’t figured out why.

That and they're really not in a position to just give away games. They're not going to win them all, but they've got to take advantage of supposedly lesser opponents. Can't lose series against teams lower in the standings and definitely can't lose them at home.

Credit Giolito for being locked in, but this has been a pretty uninspired effort from the home 9.

A lot of people get frustrated with Gibson for it, but Odorizzi’s inability to pitch deep into games is really hurting this team.

Gibson, Berrios , Perez and Odorizzi all hurt us in that respect

Matt Magill currently melting down in the 9th for the Mariners.

Hmmm, 3 hits, one of which was the tying HR, a walk, and no outs?

I'd say so.

EDIT:  And then a wild pitch that lets the winning run score.

Brutal this game, and against a lefty like Giolito they Cave and Castro have been bad all year. The manager owes the fans an apology for this crusty line-up. About as bad as some of the Gardenhire and TK line-ups that included Punto and Hocking back in the day.

Giolito is right-handed, for what its worth.

They lost and he didn't record an out.

They've given this game away.  And it's been happening once a week since July.  I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see how they hold on.

I would say they gave away Game 1 of the series.  They won game 2 and are just getting beat today.  Giolito is dealing.

Completely agree. Game 1 was the giveaway.

Giolito has been a beast all year

Why would Rocco owe the fans an apology?  Goodness.  Kepler, Polanco, Cruz, Sano, Arraez, and Rosario combined for 2 singles and 6 K's.  That's a lot of very good hitters.  If anything Giolito owes Twins fans an apology for tossing a gem.

Twins gonna get blanked on a CGSO from Giolito in a huge day-game rubber match against the awful White Sox. Terrible!

Bring on the Tigers. Hope this series reminds the Twins that you can't take anyone lightly in baseball. 14 runs don't mean much if you can't score any the next day. Rocco's team wasn't ready.

White Sox are not awful. They're basically as close to the Twins in the standings as they are Detroit....and their run differential is 100+ runs better than Detroit (and some other 'really awful' teams). If they win tody, they will have 30 wins against +500 teams. That's about as many as anyone not named the Yankees has in the AL. The Monday game was the regrettable game...a loss to this team on a day Giolito starts can't be considered particularly 'unlikely' even for a good team.

Just be thankful for that 40-18 start...because if not for that, the Twins wouldn't be in any contention to win the division.

And if the Indians didn't go 41-16 from June 4 through August 9, the Twins would be winning the division by 15 games.

Even though he pitches for one of my ultimate rivals, if anyone deserved a standing ovation, it's Lucas Giolito. To do this to a historic offense, (yes I said historic), is beyond belief and it hasn't been done ALL YEAR LONG. If this guy doesn't win a Cy Young in his career it will be the crime of the century.
