Giolito CGSO.

Absolutely devastating loss, dominated at home by the White Sox and lose 2 of 3.

After what appeared to be a season revival with a sweep in Texas, this is just about the worst letdown. Nothing comes easy.

And looks like Eddie Rosario's gonna be out for the weekend also. Is there a more frustrating or flawed first place team in baseball?

Go ask Braves or Cards fans this question.

Even though he pitches for one of my ultimate rivals, if anyone deserved a standing ovation, it's Lucas Giolito. To do this to a historic offense, (yes I said historic), is beyond belief and it hasn't been done ALL YEAR LONG. If this guy doesn't win a Cy Young in his career it will be the crime of the century.

He's been good this year but he still doesn't have the numbers to indicate that he'll be this good for his entire career. There have been instances of pitchers having fluke years recently. Blake Snell for instance was even more dominant last year than Giolitto is this year, and Snell this year has been a complete bust.

While it's true that they're in the same boat, neither of them started off with as good a first half as the Twins did.

But yes, they're just as flawed.

As many on this board know, I usually fly off the handle every time we lose a series, NOT THIS ONE! We faced Giolito and Super Nova in this series. It was predictable. You lose to a guy like Giolito, it's not frustrating. At least not for me. That's why I said that Game two would be so vital. If we had lost last night, it would have been a train wreck. As it is, this was expected against the two hottest pitchers in baseball right now.

Another throw away game...I wish we had that Chicago pitcher on our team....The Twins have a big disadvantage in every game...we don't get to hit OUR pitching. I hope the guys go to the fair and eat themselves into a coma, have fun and sweep Detroit.

In happier news, Bailey Ober pitched his 2nd straight gem for Pensacola. 7 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 12 Ks. Hopefully he gets a quick promotion to Rochester.

Up and Down, Up and Down; the Pitching and Defense. Offense wins the games. No Offense -- no Win.

It's not a bad formula. Just need the offense to shine more often than not and so far that's been the case. First Place, 77-50 record, 27 games over .500, 2.5 game lead. I will take that. It's ugly sometimes but I will still take that! :)

Ober could quickly establish himself to be Twins #3 pitching prospect behind Graterol and Balazovic if he keeps pitching like that.

Mets win

Love it.  Two runs in bottom of 10th to pull it out.  Fielding blunder by Cleveland enabled the win (pitcher didn't cover first on potential game-ending double play in bottom of 10th)

White Sox are not awful. They're basically as close to the Twins in the standings as they are Detroit....and their run differential is 100+ runs better than Detroit (and some other 'really awful' teams). If they win tody, they will have 30 wins against +500 teams. That's about as many as anyone not named the Yankees has in the AL. The Monday game was the regrettable game...a loss to this team on a day Giolito starts can't be considered particularly 'unlikely' even for a good team.

They are 12 games below .500 - and that's in a division that includes the Royals and Tigers. "Awful" might be reserved for Detroit and Baltimore, I'll give you that. But I'm very hesitant to give the Twins a pass on losing a series at home in late August to the pale hose.

Agree that the Monday game was indeed the major fumble. I think we are on the same page overall, but I don't give the Sox quite as much credit. I hope to see some sweet revenge next week in Chi-town.
