Game Thread "Harvey" Twins vs. White Sox 12:10pm cdt 8/21/2019 ad

If I bet on baseball...and I don't...I'd bet on Cleveland beating the Mets tonight.

[yarnivek1972]

Yeah, it's probably his turn to be optioned down. Not sure if burning one at this point is worth it though.

We’re worried about burning an option for a 30 year old middle reliever?

[Circus Boy]

Top of the order is up. Now or never. EDIT: Oops. Forgot about Cave.

Meanwhile, Giolito at 60 pitches has a decent shot of throwing a shutout.

68 pitches through 6. Wondering if a twin has done that all year

Through 6 outs?     Sure.

They've given this game away.  And it's been happening once a week since July.  I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see how they hold on.

[VATwinsFan]

Nice job by Dyson.

Time to get serious here.

Sounds like a Roy Smalley quote.

[FlauerPauer]

Is this the inning the Twins break through?

[FlauerPauer]

Those high changeups need to be put in the seats.

[yarnivek1972]

Our shiny new bullpen piece is being used to pitch the 7th inning of a game we are losing 4-0. I realize there is an off day tomorrow, but it seems rather pointless.

Might be his turn to get some work in. Hasn't pitched in a couple of days.

Edit: Or Rocco wanted to keep it at 4-0.

Berrios had 72 through 6 against the Marlins. Perez had 77 through 6 in his 8 inning gem against the Astros.

[VATwinsFan]

And that's eleven in a row w/o someone on base.

[Aggies7]

Welp, this weekend needs to be a sweep. The tigers are so awful that anything less would be terrible

[bighat]

Twins gonna get blanked on a CGSO from Giolito in a huge day-game rubber match against the awful White Sox. Terrible!

Bring on the Tigers. Hope this series reminds the Twins that you can't take anyone lightly in baseball. 14 runs don't mean much if you can't score any the next day. Rocco's team wasn't ready.

[John Kelsey]

Looks like Giolito is slated to start again against the Twins on Tuesday.

[VATwinsFan]

Mejia DFA'd again by the Angels--the 4th time in six weeks (twice by the Angels).

I would not say the White Sox are awful this year....I gagged on a bit of mouth vomit saying that...they are young, but they are getting better as the season goes on and will be solid next year and for years to come unless Kenny Williams decides to "go all in" again.

So is the Duffmeister becoming reliable?

[yarnivek1972]

So is the Duffmeister becoming reliable?

No one will mistake him for Mariano Rivera but he’s good enough to hold on to in this era when any reliever that can get outs consistently is worth keeping.

[Aggies7]

Castro, what a game to forget

[bighat]

Castro has his hot moments, but overall the guy's just a .240 hitting backup catcher. Twins shouldn't play him more than once per week moving forward. Enough already, we've got the next Buster Posey on our roster. Let Garver play these games and stop platooning these guys.

[Aggies7]

What’s the swing and miss rate in this game? Brutal

[Danchat]

This is why we needed to win Monday’s game... because games like this are going to happen.

The Twins are not great in home games... still haven’t figured out why.

[operation mindcrime]

What an awful at bat Castro!

Yep and because of these two losses, this weekend must be a sweep. Keep losing room for error
