sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 If at first you don't succeed... Who's fault is it? Yes. The line ups seem to be...up. Fancy that. So i thought maybe i'd make up for my earlier mistake, maybe even get the drop on someone. Things to think about: 1. Speed. Buxton... Hamilton... My, that was quick! 2. Velocity. Apparently a focus of our pitchers. But that's just speed in a given direction. 3. That fancy new stat about how hard the ball is hit. Something about exit speed? Oh right. 4. And if i am going to get this intro up before someone else does, i better be fast... um yeah. 5. Sorry for being single minded today. Jose Berrios ( R) 1. Max Kepler (L) RF2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS3. Nelson Cruz (R ) DH4. Eddie Rosario (L) LF5. C.J. Cron (R ) 1B6. M. Gonzalez (S) 3B7. J. Schoop (R ) 2B8. Jason Castro (L) C9. Byron Buxton (R ) CF Brad Keller ( R) 1. W. Merrifield ( R) RF2. A. Mondesi (S) SS3. Alex Gordon (L) LF4. Jorge Soler ( R) DH5. Ryan O'Hearn (L) 1B6. Chris Owings ( R) 2B7. Hunter Dozier ( R) 3B8. M. Maldonado ( R) C9. Billy Hamilton (S) CF
Blake Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle as applied to pitching: You can throw the ball with velocity but not locate or you can locate but not throw with velocity.

No wonder umping is so difficult.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I'd better call and get dish connected. To busy trying to get water to the house, since the pipes froze up while in Ft Myers.
Diesel Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Both Berrios and Keller are 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and had promising seasons last year. Very interesting matchup
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Keller's walk rate is 12.6% vs. LHB and just 4.7% vs. RHB. Isn't that weird? It almost as if he has the yips when lefties come up or something.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Gibson not pitching today?

bighat Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Side note: Saw that Hunter Greene (the #2 pick behind Lewis in the 2017 draft) will undergo Tommy John surgery. Unfortunate for the kid and the Reds organization. I point this out because the Twins were somewhat criticized for not drafting Greene ahead of Lewis - Royce was considered in some circles to simply be an "affordable pick true to the Twins spending habits". I remember the same was said about Joe Mauer vs. Mark Prior way back in the day as well. Edit: Also saw that Michael Reed was just designated for assignment by the Giants today after SF acquired Pillar from Toronto. Not sure why I'm posting this stuff in the game thread but since nothing's happening yet I figured I might as well.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 I believe he is scheduled tomorrow. I presume he's spending the evening at a Golden Corral trying to get that weight back up?
woolywoolhouse Verified Member Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 These off-days this early in the season gotta be hard for the players to find their rhythm, but it's damn near impossible for us fans to get into a grove, too! I've got no beer in the fridge, I still have work to do... I need some consistency early in the baseball season.

Some wanted Green, but McKay was closer with similar upside and a potential 2 way player.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 I will miss the first hourish, and maybe the very end of it, but i plan to see as much of the game as possible.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 It'd sure be nice to get off to a good start here tonight. These two games would be big wins in the early season.
hybridbear Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Twins seem unprepared tonight so far... hitters swinging at 1st pitch (Polanco pop up), chasing bad pitches (Rosario twice swinging at ball 4), and then Castro seemingly unprepared for the Royals to steal 2B when the pregame show was talking about how they steal bases.
S. Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Is Polanco injured? That was a little league throw
Blake Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 It's early in the game. until it isn't.
hybridbear Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Why was Polanco rushing his throw so much there? He could've taken his time and done it properly.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Not a shortstop's arm. I've never thought so, I don't think I'll ever be convinced.
Blake Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 KC isn't that good this year. But, the Twins might help to change that perspective. They're givers that way.
S. Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Not the prettiest inning by the field, but nice recovery by Berrios to hold it to 1 run. I hope the ump calls that outside edge of the strikezone all night
SF Twins Fan Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Not a shortstop's arm. I've never thought so, I don't think I'll ever be convinced. That's why he should end up at 2nd once Royce Lewis comes up....it can't happen soon enough.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Not sure I like the Kluber special of trying to attack him early.
Blake Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Odd to see a Dozier run down the line for KC.
S. Verified Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I'm liking Morneau in the booth. Have they said how many games the different fill in guys are each getting this season?
Eduardo Tait Cedar Rapids Kernels - A+ C On Thursday, the 19-year-old went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Cedar Rapids. That gives him nine homers this season. Explore Eduardo Tait News >
