I love this one and hope it comes true. If nothing else it has us dreaming big like we should be. I would like to believe if we trade for him we would sign him to extention, but if we can't look at what he'd bring at the deadline. If this falls through I can't imagine any trade to follow that would sell tickets like this one would. Get this done.

Pass... he is a great player, but he is on a one year deal, and the cost of extending him i too much for a 1st basemen, imo. I am a supporter of not carrying a first basemen on the roster other than Austin. We have plenty of guys who can play first (Kepler, Ehire, Garver, Sano, Austin). Spend the money or prospects elsewhere.

Lost in all this is the part about Minnesota having the fifth lowest OPS at first base in 2018. Not to turn this into a Mauer thread, but that’s why some of us were thankful for his long ago, but also thankful he won’t be back.

 

And why a guy like a Goldschmidt is a real need for this team. They need something like that, another bat (Donaldson?), AND a return to form from Sano.

 

Do something like that, and the team looks a lot different.

I don't know Arizona well but isn't Goldy huge down there? They can't just give him away and on a one year deal, he's probably not what the Twins front office wants.

Does anyone think this trade ever had ANY chance of happening? Minnesota fans are so naive thinking this even

had a 1% chance of happening. I’ll say it one more time: superstars would rather retire than come to Minnesota to play! Every year about this time someone starts crazy rumors like this, and the fan base goes completely nuts with excitement! Not ever going to happen, boys,!
