Does anyone think this trade ever had ANY chance of happening? Minnesota fans are so naive thinking this even

had a 1% chance of happening. I’ll say it one more time: superstars would rather retire than come to Minnesota to play! Every year about this time someone starts crazy rumors like this, and the fan base goes completely nuts with excitement! Not ever going to happen, boys,!

Goldschmidt doesn't have a no trade clause.

I don't know Arizona well but isn't Goldy huge down there? They can't just give him away and on a one year deal, he's probably not what the Twins front office wants.

Given the way baseball  has moved with expensive 1B types, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the return for him is fairly underwhelming. AZ may wait to ship him at the deadline...

*Sigh*

If the Twins could swing this trade, shipping Kepler, I'd love it if they then signed Pollock (play in RF to start and acts as CF insurance in case Buxton doesn't pan out).

Extend Goldy and then 2020 lineup is:

C: Garver

1B: Goldschmidt

2B: Polanco

SS: Lewis

3B: Sano

LF: Rosario

CF: Buxton/Pollack

RF: Pollock/Kirilloff

I want it.

*But it won't happen*

Anyone ready to move Kiroloff or Lewis? If I am the DBacks I am not interested if one of those is not part of the deal. Maybe taking on Grienke’s full contract will help.

It's not going to take either of them for 1 year of Goldschmidt. Wherever he lands I'm willing to bet the return will look underwhelming.

I'd be willing to deal a package not involving them.

I could see the Twins dealing Kirilloff, but for pitching, not for hitting.

The one where he went into the HoF wearing a Twins cap.

Yours?

He has a lifetime OPS of .400 against the Twins, so I guess I have 3, the times he struck out.

He is the face of hte D-backs, but in Phoenix there are probably as many Cubs fans as D-backs fans.  And many more mutts like me who are fans of all sorts of other teams.

The D-back hardcore folks will be sad to lose him, but they're bound to lose him either way.  With the state of their farm, if they lose him for nothing but a comp pick the team is going to be in dire shape for a long time.
