The lowest point of a season full of low points

Yesterday I believe I saw what I can only describe as the lowest of low points in a season full of low points.

Be assured, I'm not a gloom and doom guy.  Certainly Dozier's remarkable 2nd half has been fun to watch.  Buxton drilling a Verlander fast ball deep into the center field seats marked, for me, the arrival of Byron Buxton.  That was a great at bat off a great pitcher.

However, the 9th inning of the first game was sickening, embarrassing...use whatever word you would like.  When an intentional walk yields a gift run via a wild pitch...I can't even put it into words.  If I were coaching my son's little league team and that happened, I would be frustrated.  I can't imagine what Paul Molitor felt.

As if that wasn't enough, Michael Tonkin came in to serve up a 3 run dinger, a couple more hits a couple more walks, another wild pitch.  With the score 3-2, the ninth inning yielded three wild pitches, five walks, two singles, and a home run for a total of 6 runs.

If you haven't seen the wild pitch/intentional ball four thrown by Light, it didn't just barely miss the catchers mitt.  It sailed about 10 feet over Centeno.  Centeno is not a tall man, but had we brought in Kevin Garnett to catch, it would have been well out of his reach...and that's a man with a lot of reach!

So, my question to you is - what is your low point for the year?

Is this the game where only around 150 fans showed up to watch?

That's probably takes the cake over anything that happened on the field.

Yep...and I kind of factor that into the whole scenario.  I'm sure the people who stayed home were happy that they did.

I don't know how else to sum it up or elaborate anymore other than to state the obvious.  The pitching on this team flat out SUCKS!

Haha.

Why yes, yes it does.

In fact, this was in one of the rough drafts of Mr. Pohlad's famous speech.

First draft:

"This is a Total System WTF."

Second draft:

"This Total System Flat Out Sucks."

Third draft:

"This is a Total System Failure."

As you can see, his supply of scotch was cut off sometime between the first and third drafts.

I mean it's skull and cross bones time for this organization.  Complete reformat and system purge is necessary, possible hardware replacement.

Yes.  The Twins got a hardware upgrade in 2010 but then reinstalled an OS from three years earlier.

What followed was system slowness and crashes due to software incompatibilities.  An aversion to buying new software that could address these issues was a contributing factor.  You can't always rely on your own programmers.

Rebooting each year hasn't fixed it.  It's time for a clean install of an updated OS.

Pohlad is a n00b!

That wild pitch out was the best thing I've seen all year. You'd be crazy to call that a low-point.

There's a part of me that realizes that years from now, when all this has passed, that high/lowlite will be replayed over and over in reflection of one of worst seasons ever in Twins baseball.

If a low point falls in Target Field and nobody is around to hear it, did it actually happen?

And would anyone actually care if it did?

Besides those posting on this thread I suppose.

This stuff has been going on all season long. Smart enough players playing really dumb baseball, and almost everyone on the team playing far below their talent level. It's a combination of too many players with poor "make-up" and an incredulous failure in leadership from players, coaches, and the manager.

Yes.  By the way your avatar.....Tom Baker was the best doctor who actor in the entire series history in my opinion.

Also my favorite, although Tennant runs a closer second than one might expect.

Entropy caused the downfall of the 4th Doctor.  Similar story with Terry Ryan.

Pertwee was also very good in the role.  For the new series, Matt Smith was very good but the only true misfire is the new bloke.  I suspect that Moffat has being trying to suck himself out of the job of producer with the ridiculous stories recently, much like John Nathan-Turner tried to do in the 80s.  Luckily this time a new guy will come in and the series will continue.

There were good stories last year, mind you, but the rubbish was hard to forget.  Russell T. Davies had some very bad episodes as well, but his good episodes were so good that it was easy to move past the bad ones.

I still haven't watched last year....it costs all of $2 an episode on Amazon, and we know the day I buy the season is the day it goes free....

Obviously, given my age, Baker has a special spot in my heart, but Tennant was amazing.
