My hysterics wasn't over the loss of Arcia.

It was over him not getting playing time before he was dropped. When others playing in front of him were playing poorly.

I was totally prepared for the possibility of this type of thing with his new club.

You would have to add him back on the 25-man roster.

Hummm...Carlos Gomez or Oswaldo Arcia. What a tough decision. Especially when the Tigers add someone named Alex Presley to their roster!

I've got a feeling he'll bounce around on a couple more teams before he finally settles in somewhere.

I think his next stop will be in the AL West either with the Angels or A's.

This is all part of an executive and management team that inspire no possible explanation as to what they are doing or where they are going! The trading of Hu, the $25 million to obtain Parkwhen we were over staffed at his possible positions, the extensions for moderate (at best) pitchers. The choices of who gets playing time.

There's a pattern. Unfortunately it's a pattern if failure, not a pattern that suggests a map of direction.

Arcia has been claimed by the Miami Marlins. With 1B Justin Bour and RF Giancarlo Stanton on the DL, Arcia will have room to start there. Not only will he get playing time, but he'll also be in a playoff race.

That should answer most of the remaining questions.

Good luck, Waldo!

Interesting landing spot for our old pal, Oswaldo.

I agree very interesting place. Right now they are running Yelich-Ozuna-Ichiro.  Both corners (Yelich and Ichiro) hit left handed and play the field better than Oswaldo.  They only have 3 games in AL stadiums left on their schedule as well.  Will be interesting to see what kind of playing time he gets.

The Marlins just traded for Jeff Francoeur.  I wonder what the future holds for Ozzie...might not be a good time to sign a long lease.  I hope he finds a place to stick.

The big issue here is how a top 100 player in the minors flamed out with the Twins and whether there's a pattern. Also, whether this happens to he Twins more, less or the same as it happens to other teams.

I would argue that the Twins need to be better than average in converting top prospects to productive major leaguers, because they aren't as active or successful in free agency or trading for good players.

Under the old FO, I would agree completely.  That remains to be seen with what happens with a new regime, but I think they'll still need to be ahead of the curve in these departments to remain competitive over longer stretches of time.

Designated three times in one summer. Ouch. I feel sorry for him, but for everyone who loses a slot someone gains a slot.

His numbers (even against right handed pitching) are just above okay, not great, but he's young yet and somebody will probably give him a platoon or pitch hitting job.

Arcia was either a 41, 60 or 93 ranked prospect depending on the service. There is an almost 40% chance that a hitter below the rank of top 20 in prospect rankings will have less than 0 war by the time they reach the 6 year point in their mlb career, It is not much of an exception that Arcia has not made it despite being a top 100 prospect.

Nobody wants him on their 40-man, everybody wants to stash him in their minors.

I continue to think the waiver/DFA rules need to be tweaked so that this kind of outcome means the player eventually reverts to the original team that tried to obtain waivers, perhaps with the player having the option of free agency. I mean, come on.

First sentence absolutely right, second one absolutely wrong.

I continue to think otherwise. :)

Would Oswaldo have rather cleared waivers two months ago, and lost that MLB service time and accompanying benefits? Absolutely not. These players want an incentive for teams to keep them on the 25-man/40-man roster as long as possible. They don't want that incentive removed so they wind up in the minors faster, even if they might complain about the headaches involved with moving around.
