Sano activated, Park to AAA

When Sano finishes his rehab assignment in the minors, who should go back to Rochester?  Assuming the Twins haven't traded Trevor Plouffe, who's the odd man out? Does Kepler go down?  He's hitting better than a lot of Twins right now.  Does Buxton go back and Kepler takes over in center?

I would probably option Byung Ho Park down and let Sano be the DH until Plouffe is traded.  Park might just need some time away from the spot light, time to adjust to America, and a chance to rebuild some confidence against some minor league pitching.

Park is the right and obvious choice. Or just cut Santana finally.

But i fear they will manage to send down or cut someone they never needed to instead. IE sending down Buxton for more AAA work, opening the door for every day CF Santana.

There is a big Byung ho Park promotion at Target Field on Tuesday July 5, so probably not Park. I'm ok with that though I wish Molitor had the sense to not play Park every game through this terrible slump. At this point I would guess a bullpen arm is optioned.

It is an unusual situation regarding Park. From a baseball perspective he is the right choice but transitioning to USA from Korea, getting used to Minneapolis then having to get used to a different town in Rochester puts a bit of strain on the person. Then add on family(not sure on that) and the situation gets even more complicated.

Having said all that Park would still be the one to go down if I was GM with it being pretty clear that he comes back when rosters expand. That would allow him to plan around that.

As to the Park promo on July 5, I am not convinced Sano is up any before then. Sano up following that series.

Buxton needs to go down now... and it has nothing to do with Sano being ready.  He needs to get more time working on minor league pitches and cementing those habits that he quickly got away from when he came back up here.

In my perfect little world, Plouffe gets traded.  I'm probably asking too much there, so Park would be my second choice.

Park. Period.  Sano in RF needs to be over, so he is the DH. Not only does Park need time at AAA, he will not pay if he stays up.

And if a promotion on Tuesday effects the roster move they make, Dave St. Peter should fire Terry Ryan and then resign.

Yeah, if they keep Park up for the sole reason of a stupid and pointless ballpark promotion that might just end up being the lowpoint/dumbest point in this franchises history. I trust/hope/pray they aren't really that stupid.

Pitchers should be rested now with a day off and some good starts. Even tonight Molitor didn't empty the bullpen. I would go back down to 12. DFA Jepsen.

False. He dominates AAA pitching. There is no harm, in this abomination of a season, in giving him as many plate appearances as possible against MLB pitching.

Per Lavelle E Neal:

"Miguel Sano has been called up to join the Twins in time for their weekend series against the Rangers, according to a source.

Byung Ho Park, who has 12 home runs but has also become a part-time player because of a prolonged slump, has been sent to Class AAA Rochester.

Sano is NOT swinging a hot bat. He was 1-for-6 during a doubleheader on Thursday and was batting .160 during his rehab stint at Rochester."

Seems like the right move. Presumably Sano DHs for a few games before playing in the field.

Exactly this. Nice to see this move made.

If they jerk Kepler around so they can keep Plouffe at third I will have a conniption! Or something! :)

Why would they need to?

No problem.  Time for new thinking anyway.  Medoza (of the Mendoza line fame) might be an all-star on this team.

Could just let Sano DH until Plouffe gets traded (if he gets traded).

This would be the sensible move indeed.

I would expect to see a rotation among Plouffe, Mauer and Sano with Sano getting 2-3 starts per week at 3rd when he is not at DH, Plouffe in the field everyday between first and third and Mauer DH'ing 2-3 times per week when he is not at first.

Park was the right move, but it should've happened the last time a guy was ready to rejoin the roster.  (Santana)

Hopefully Park can adjust and contribute.  The raw power is there, but if he can't be a factor for this team we're going to be regretting that move (and, more specifically, the reprecussions of it) for a long time.
