Sano activated, Park to AAA

If they jerk Kepler around so they can keep Plouffe at third I will have a conniption! Or something! :)

Better take all of the pointy objects away from Platoon!   :P

But he'll only miss it just this one time    ;)

That puzzles me, they carried him all year, and then he misses t shirt day. Just another seemingly odd contradiction.

What puzzles me is they schedule a T-Shirt Day for Park in the first place, when he's never played MLB ball before this season.

Perhaps could have done this originally and instead put Arcia's 1.155 OPS to use the past two weeks.

So if Park had been demoted ~15 days ago, what roster move do you make now to add Sano?

But Neil Ramirez has compromising pictures man....we had no choice!

False. He dominates AAA pitching. There is no harm, in this abomination of a season, in giving him as many plate appearances as possible against MLB pitching.

Pretty much agreed. Buxton clearly is a hard worker, but the finer nuances of the game are coming slowly for him. By far the most difficult aspect is formulating a plan for each pitch of each at bat, followed by his swing mechanics, which are still too long, plus he's chopping down over the ball rather than flicking the bat head outwards to get back-spin and pop. Finally, he still doesn't bunt nearly as well as some pitchers do, which is entirely unacceptable for a man with Buxton's game-changing speed. On top of all that, as a runner Buxton still hasn't developed base stealing skills at the MLB level, where pitchers and catchers (other than the Twins) are much better at holding runners than are guys in AAA.

He's got a lot of things to learn, but mostly the prognosis is good. Buxton can learn better base stealing technique from Molitor. Hitting mechanics should eventually come around, with enough help from Bruno. The question with Buxton is confidence. If he continues to flail and strike out too much at this level, will he lose the foundation of confidence that he can get better? If he starts looking defeated, then send him down, but not yet. I have seen better technique on the bases. His bunting is up and down, but clearly he's working on it. I'm sure Bruno will keep reminding him to turn his back and hit outwards through the ball, don't try to pull everything like Dozier.

Through it all, they've got to keep encouraging him to believe that he can get better. I was watching a Buxton at-bat yesterday when a stray thought drifted through my mind: "This guy is going to be a great hitter." When it happens I'm not sure, but there's something about Buxton that makes me think he's going to realize all the potential the scouts saw in him. He's very determined, that's for sure.

Something is wrong when you have promotions for players that aren't with the Big League Club. They must be smokin' something when they are evaluating and dreamin' about the next season.

There you go assuming they have a plan with anything.

When the GM comes out and admits that they put out a bid without even thinking about landing the player or what they might do if they were to somehow they did, you know there was never a plan. That alone should've got him fired. Even though I was happy they at least tried to make a splash.

Sano at .160 ? Was there some time limit that required Sano be recalled today?

The point of a rehab assignment is to get healthy. That's it. Sano doesn't need to reprove anything in the minors.

They could send down a pitcher.

Rogers, I suppose. Not too many of the pitchers have minor league options. Maybe you're ready to part ways with Jepsen; I guess TR keeps hoping he rebounds enough to palm off on someone else.

If the manager is insistent on keeping all those pitchers handy, there isn't a position player who can be sent down, is there?

And I'd say the backwards logic that MAYBE if we hold onto Jepsen long enough he'll fetch a C prospect, at the expense of a young player with actual potential to help the next winning team, is part of the reason why we are in this mess in the first place.

And, it's not just potential. Arcia has close to an .800 OPS career against righties. He already has value as a platoon player.

My point, if indeed I really have any, is that this 40-man roster seems like it's constructed in a way to make in-season moves fairly difficult. It's normal to have some guys out of minor league options, and if they have problems you may have to just live with it. We've got too many of those. The off-season is about thinking these possibilities through, and trading off the assets that are problematic, before it becomes a crisis and you just have to discard those assets.

I believe the Twins will rotate Mauer, Plouffe and Sano at DH.  Remember Plouffe has been struggling with a sore knee, so DHing him a bit more would make sense.

Call me crazy but I think this is one of those rare times when decency should have taken priority above baseball. Park had a promotion coming up, however ill planned it was. Park could have sat on the bench a few more days in a season like this until his promotion day, and then been optioned shortly after. Everybody can see he is struggling but maybe there were some fans still looking forward to meeting him that day. We could have optioned or cut one of the bullpen guys in the meantime.

I think I get were you're going here, but there are a lot of guys on the 40-man they could DFA and they'd either a) not be missed or B) would cause the other GMs in the league to laugh when someone on his staff asked if they should put in a claim.

Dean, Jepsen, Ramirez and Boshers are all guys that few would shed tears over losing and most of them probably wouldn't get claimed anyway.
