  1. When Sano finishes his rehab assignment in the minors, who should go back to Rochester? Assuming the Twins haven't traded Trevor Plouffe, who's the odd man out? Does Kepler go down? He's hitting better than a lot of Twins right now. Does Buxton go back and Kepler takes over in center? I would probably option Byung Ho Park down and let Sano be the DH until Plouffe is traded. Park might just need some time away from the spot light, time to adjust to America, and a chance to rebuild some confidence against some minor league pitching.
  2. With the depth the Mets have in their rotation and as bad as Matt Harvey has been this year, he could be on the trading block. He still could be a top of the rotation guy. Maybe a change of teams is all he needs. He's also has a couple years of arbitration left in him. They also have Yoenis Cespedes (sp?) playing center field. I'd imagine they would want someone with better defense center so they could slide Cespedes to a corner spot. I'd at least throw out Max Kepler and Plouffe for Harvey and see what they say. If they came back wanting Plouffe and Buxton... I might do it for someone who could be an Ace...
  3. While I don't think he ever spent time with the big club but Steve Pearce, currently on Tampa Bay's roster, did spend a part of spring training with the Twins in 2012.
  4. I know Chone Figgins has been bad since he left the Angels. Really one of the biggest free agent busts in Mariner history if not in all of baseball. That said, the Twins need a lead off hitter, they want someone to compete at thirdbase. Figgins can do both and can play second and the outffield. I wouldn't do anything more than a one year minor league deal with a spring training invite. After batting less than .200 the last 2 years, I don't think anyone else is going to give him anything more. He was a good player for the Angels and a bad player for the Mariners. Maybe a change of uniforms is all he needs. If not, the Twins release him or leave him in the minors. Could be one of those low risk, high reward situations the Twins seem to covet.
  5. He's not an ace but he has pitched over 200 innings and 30+ starts each of the last 5 years and he's got a decent contract. The biggest thing this team needs now is innings out of the rotation. He will be an upgrade over the back of our current rotation.
  6. Just throwing out this but the Twins could move Plouffe to right feild and bring back up Danny Valencia for 3rd. If we trade Span or Reeve it should be for a major league ready starting pitcher. I've mentioned James Shields before. The Nationals need a center fielder. They got John Lannan in the minors. He had a decent year last year. He's also got some years of arb control for the Twins. He's not a top of the rotation guy but when have the Twins gone after top tier pitching?
  7. I've seen that Tampa Bay Rays might be willing to trade James Shields. Shields is signed for the next 2 seasons at 9 million and 12 million. He's durable and affordable. I don't know what they would want back for him. We have some outfield prospects and they could use some infeild help. Maybe Alexi Casilla and a couple of prospects could get it done.
