There is an out-of-the box possibility here that I haven't seen much discussion of - the Pohlad family is asset rich but cash flow "poor". I have no insight into this, but it tracks with what we've seen regarding the loss of tv revenue. This isn't like Elon who can sell some of his shares of Tesla and get liquid immediately. The Pohlads would have to sell companies in this scenario.
What wouldn't be a failed approach, though? Is throwing an offer at Rodon that is so far above the market that he has "no choice" but to come to a mediocre team the right decision?
edit - Spotrac has Rodon at $31m/yr. To get him to MN, $35M+?
That's funny, I feel exactly the opposite. The league is so "bottom heavy" that there are far more potential buyers than sellers. And almost everyone is looking for starting and relief pitching. We thought that Bumgardner and Bauer were going to be on the market, and now they aren't. The Mets want a King's ransom for Syndegaard.
The problem with Friday is that looks to be the coldest day of the bunch, maybe low 20s if lucky? This could end up being a really cold Saturday doubleheader.
Interesting responses. I'm still as into the Vikings as ever. I think I know more about the bubble players on the roster than I have in the past. However, I will also note that I am less excited about preseason this year. I think it is a bit of a lag from Teddy's injury and the collapse last year. With injuries being such a big part of the game, I want to see who is actually available in the regular season.
That's funny, I did the same exact thing last night and perhaps not surprisingly, came up with the same three. Kepler is a firm 3rd right now in the race, but with two months to go anything can happen.
Texas and Houston still have 7 to play and only 3 games separate them. It is possible that if the Rangers continue to win, they could take the West. That would make the Twins series in Houston pretty important.
