Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Game-time forecast: 70-75 deg F, currently mostly cloudy, but should clear and be sunny, winds from the S at 7-8 mph. All in all, shaping up to be a good day for a baseball game!Lineups:ORIOLESMachado 3BDavis RFJones CFPearce LFWalker DHHardy SSParmelee 1BSchoop 2BJoseph CJimenez PTWINSDozier 2BMauer DHPlouffe 1BSano 3BHunter RFRosario LFHicks CFFryer CSantana SSMilone PStuff:1. Milone v Jimenez. If Milone stays on this roll of his, I give Milone the big edge. He's just been, well, amazing; a 1.95 ERA since he returned, 5 quality starts in a row (a team best), I mean, yeah! I give him the edge. Jimenez has been good this year, too, but as I said, the way Milone has been lately, well, I pick Milone. Just hope he keeps rolling. KEEP ON ROLLIN', MILONE! GET! THEM! OUT! 2. Sano. Starting at 3rd today. I think they wanted him to get comfortable first ... at the plate, in the bigs … before throwing him in the field. He got that first home run out of the way last night, so it's time. That home run was great. A nice, easy swing and BOOM! That man has some serious power … let's keep it coming! But I was actually more impressed by his rbi walk. What youngster rookie has that kind of patience? I mean, come on, who doesn't want to hit a grand slam; how tempting is a bases loaded opportunity to just swing for the hills? Yeah, a grand slam would have been much more exciting, for sure, but he showed great restraint and patience. To me, that was impressive for the rookie instead of fanning on three straight pitches because the adrenaline had him swinging for the hills.3. Hicks. Did someone flip a switch in him? Is it just, finally, coming together? He's looking better at the plate, he's providing some great defense in the field … I mean, is this the real Hicks? Did someone step into his body? Did he channel someone? Past would have me being cautious, but I'm hanging onto this current display with the hope of more to come.4. Fryer up, Hermann down. Hmm. Well, okay. I mean, well, hmm. We'll see. I don't see this as an upgrade, but a change in hopes of something better. We aren't going to get a mlb-ready catcher, even a mlb-ready backup catcher without over-paying. Seriously, I really don't think so. Is now the right time to over pay for one? I don't think so. We can't just offer a huge quantity of decent and good and get huge quality in return. It just doesn't work that way. And if I were a mlb GM for a team with a good catcher on my roster, I'm not selling, at any price. What's out there to replace him? That just might be the priceless commodity of the day. Yeah, I know, everything has a price … but in this case, I'd be saying no. And no GM is going to offer the farm, including elite prospects, plural, not just good, but elite, because I think that might be the price it's going to take, if there is a price. Maybe an over-exageration, but we cannot offer a plateful of Duensings and expect a return some think is obtainable.5. I'll be working in my library alone today. All alone. Know what that means? I can put the game up on my computer, turn up the volume as loud as it will go, and enjoy! Hopefully I get some work done, too. Mostly proofreading. I can do that with the game in the background. Yup, sure can.Play ball! Go Twins! P.S. Oops, forgot the most important bit of stuff ... #VoteDozier!

kydoty Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Game is not on TV today. I'm sure they have a reason to not air it, but it's upsetting when I'm working from home today and I can't see it.

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 It's on mlb.tv so Chi Town can update. But I can't find any non-internet TV and since I'm in a 6-team blackout area, I never bother with mlb.tv.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Alas, i got up later than i always mean to, so errand running will momentarily distract me... (Well, if i were a true fan, i would probably put it off until after the game? but that might mean not taking care of stuff 'til tomorrow, and that might be um, irresponsible.) I'll be back...
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Apparently Brett Favre has put up a little 'vote Dozier' video.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Apparently Brett Favre has put up a little 'vote Dozier' video. Um, link, please?
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 It's on Twitter, and I can't get the link from there to here while at work, unfortunately. Seth reposted it.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 That's the best the lineup has looked all year.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Anybody who's watching; let us know how the big man looks in the field, please.I have the Orioles feed on. The big man, so far, looks...big.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 That's the best the lineup has looked all year. Put in Escobar for Santana and we'd really be in business.
Comrade Bork Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 The guide on Comcast even has them listed as airing on FSN. And because of MLB restrictions you can't listen to 96.3 online and hear the game. ugh! dumb.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Tennis is on FSN. Makes me mad it isn't on MLB network. They don't even have baseball on.
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 So, Jimenez is not terrible this year? That's something I hadn't noticed until now...
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Watching the O's broadcast right now and I've always loved listening to Gary Thorne, he just has a great voice for announcing.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Dozier steals 2nd and 3rd, no biggie. Billy Hamilton who?
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 #VoteDozier or he'll steal something from you!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 I know you want Sano to HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT, and he can, but he has shown real plate discipline and I just find that impressive for him.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 What a great AB from Sano. I love, love, love the kid's patience at the plate. He layed off a close pitch off the inside edge and then a nasty breaking pitch for Ball 4.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 heh ... work has halted for the moment ...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 See ... now Hunter's at bat is what you'd expect from a rookie wanting it too bad ...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 okay ... here we go ... C'MON ROSIE!!!
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Pressure's on Rosario now..
