If my option was Guillen or Molitor, I would take Guillen.  But there will be other options this Fall I would probably prefer if the Twins clean house

Many people have wanted to replace the Twins' front office and field personnel with someone who is up to speed with the modern game. Guillen is about as old-school as you can get. Also, as good of a baseball man as he probably is, he nevertheless gives me the impression that he's a bit off his rocker.

So Molly was the best choice ever for a modern game manager. Right? I would probably agree that he deserved an opportunity, a chance. Defining management field staff is something I'd like someone more knowledgable than I to undertake and share. Anyone?

I should be clear that I'm not advocating for or against the modern-game-advanced-metrics-etc approach. I'm just saying that those who want the Twins to take that approach should not look at Guillen as a possible manager.

If my option was only Guillen or Molitor I would be upset.

And stubborn as hell. I'm not at all in favor of someone "set in their ways".

Thoughts? I can't think of one reason why this would be a good idea?

He's not Molitor.

I'll agree in advance that that isn't a very good reason.

Thoughts?

I really hope you're trolling?  :)

I'd pass on Guillen.  I want a Joe Maddon type.  Someone good at bring talent along and patient enough to work with it.  That's what we need.  I don't see Guillen as that.

Good manager, won a title, speaks Spanish (think of how many spanish first speaking key players the Twins will have on the roster the next few years) takes the pressure off his players etc.

Everyone wants a Joe Maddon type, but there aren't a whole lot of Joe Maddon's out there.

Dave Martinez would be a great choice as well though.

I do like Guillen for a variety of reasons actually baseball related, but I don't think he's the right fit.

If I can't have Joe Maddon, Dave Martinez is probably the next choice for me as well.

True, Guillen would carry some risk. If I were GM I would fire Molitor if the Twins don't win this next series, and then go out and hire Guillen as the interim manager. If he turns it around then the next GM can decide if he wants to keep him or not. IMO Molitor has already lost te clubhouse.

What are his qualifications? He played baseball?

One of the smartest baseball players ever. Understands playing as a starter, bench player, and both traditional and modern areas of the game. He also is a great media guy.

Ok that's why I thought.  No real qualifications

Probably at least as good as any of our qualifications for making this call.

Wait, we did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

While working for a Miami-based organization he praised Fidel Castro.  Supreme failure of the stupid test.  Please, No.

One of many demonstrations of poor judgment.  I would not give him 10 seconds of consideration.

Raul Ibanez.

Interesting name.  Why?

Just a quick look, all I could find was "now servicing as special advisor to Los Angeles Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman".

Still, would be nice to have insite from a guy that's worked for that size of an organization.  And the Dodger must have seen something in him...

Oops, did read all of the thread.  IGNORE!!
