A different GM, a different manager, maybe they would create a roster that would be more interesting to watch. But in the end, the Pohlads won't invest in the team, don't care about winning, and are just playing their customers (us) for suckers. After the Trade Deadline Massacre I thought "Maybe this will work out and the Twins will be good in 2028". That's no longer a realistic hope. This was a much darker day. Do you think the Milwaukee front office could put together a good team with the Twins payroll? The Brewers have the best record in baseball with a ton of young exciting players and a really good minor league system. They began the year with a $108M 26 person roster while the moribund Twins began the year with a $142M 26 person payroll. The Pohlads are a problem not because they don't invest in the team but because they have zero idea about how to run a baseball franchise. It is really hard for anyone to defend the Pohlads in relationship to the recent quarter century plus malaise in owning the Minnesota Twins. They seem like a deficient incompetent group of wealthy people who have nobody to tell them that they are running around naked and look embarrassing. Still, the philosophy of putrid is all Falvey and his enforcer is Baldelli. One wonders what Levine would say. It is a sad situation for MLB and Twins fans. Nashvilletwin Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 The handwringing on the TD today is hilarious. It was always a pipe dream that the Pohlads were going to sell to a vanity driven multibillionaire who would be willing to lose even more money than the parsimonious Pohlads. Get over it - that was never going to happen given the current financial performance and condition of this franchise. The silver lining is the Twins are going to have to embrace a model that emphasises internal player development. Face it - it’s the only way a franchise like the Twins can compete sans a salary cap (which may arrive with the new CBA after 2027, if we are lucky). No, the real horrible news is that the Twins are destined to fail in this newly adopted business model with Rocco (and Falvey) at the helm. There is absolutely nothing in their performance history that indicates they can be successful developing top young talent. In fact, the opposite is true - Rocco is horrible at it. The Twins actually have a genuine opportunity to build a competing team by 2028 comprised of a bunch of cheap, controllable quality players. But that too will be a pipe dream if Rocco stays. S Bart Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Recent article validates that the season ticket sales this year are at an all time low. I am a transplanted Twins fan who has followed them religiously since 1965 despite living in southern California including attending the World Series. With this news, I am looking at switching to the Padres. Unless the Pohlads actually show some dedication this winter, I just can't continued to follow the team during my retirement years. My annual trip back to the Twin Cities to see my grandkids and take them to Target Field will halt or probably be transplanted to St. Paul. The whole thing saddens me greatly. David HK Verified Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Stability is supposed to be a positive word. So is consistency. But the "stability" of the pohlad chaos is just like the "consistency" of getting bent over by the yankees time after time. The deadline day was a dark day. This ridiculous, tone-deaf "open letter" begets a dark age. I agree with an earlier poster that the opposite of love is indifference. And that's exactly what the pohlads have done with my multi-decades of Twins love. Eff that whole family. glunn and CarpetGuy 1 1

There is no zeal, no desire to put fans into seats by providing an entertaining style of ball. I believe part of that is complacent leadership and personality driven. So what's the option? I listen to a ton of games. I scour MLB for pitching matchups, who is streaking, a game which is critical to the division lead, who is announcing. I listen to a ton of Reds, Giants, Dodgers, Guardians, and Tigers. I have town ball, where I see at times more desire than I do from millionaires playing ball. I am not asking for bloated payrolls. Kevin Sheehan Verified Member Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Maybe we'll get lucky and the new limited are actually Hedge Funds who would be smart enough to bring in some folks with baseball brains similar to the Raiders with Brady. In addition, in my experience Hedge Funds, even in a minority position invest with the intent to build value in their asset and then flip it in 5 years or so. No one would invest in the team without having the ability to affect a positive upside in value. That means increasing payroll, improving the fan experience and improving minor league development. We'll need more details. In the meantime, holding out for a positive outcome is better than jumping into the river.. glunn, TwinsDr2021 and CarpetGuy 3

I'm trying to decipher where in the article it was used as a celebration and my conclusion is that people are reading the headline but not the article. 'Stability' appeared to be used as a objective statement regarding Derek Falvey and the ownership's future status. The article seemed to understand that this 'stability' wasn't going to be popular. The word wasn't being used as a positive silver lining kind of statement, it was merely being used to describe what the Pohlad's stubbornly prefer, even in the face of poor performances. I mean....you slap a headline like that on your article.....you sorta bring it on yourself? Look, maybe there is a time to talk about the fact that there will be "stability". But today? With that headline? It's so tone deaf you can't be shocked when people read into it with their feelings. glunn and Wedman13 1 1

I don't know, I've seen way worse. To me the 'Like it or Not' part is way worse than the 'Stability' part, but only because I want to imagine 100% of the readers being in the 'Not' camp, but obviously there's never a consensus and honestly, I don't hate EVERYTHING Derek Falvey has done. I understood where he was going with the headline right away, in short, sorry all, but Falvey and Baldelli are safe (I'd be less equivocal about Baldelli personally, he got an option picked up, not an extension) so I'm guessing the lack of fire and brimstone probably made people just assume it wasn't a cathartic pitchfork op-ed. Then the title should've been "In addition to ownership, Twins fans shouldn't expect organizational changes either" Stability, generally speaking, has a positive connotation to it. It's the wrong vibe. Poverty is "stable" too in the sense that it's hard to get out of it. Stupid decision making is "Stable" in the sense that it generally keeps repeating itself for those prone to it. As the Pohlads have done a masterful job demonstrating.
