Just take care of yourself. You'll be alright.

Larnach's hitting .294 which is why I hang on to him. However, now that I finally check, Jenkins splits against LP are pretty awful. I assumed they were good because of all the hype. Maybe the genius scouts just said "my he's a handsome devil, isn't he".

I remember seeing Arcia at Fort Myers this spring and it looked like he was running through molasses. Surprised he lasted this long. That being said, it's a race to the Mendoza Line for Roden and Lewis. They might need help all around.

Trading the Twins elite pitcher for prospect, prospect, suspect, prospect, Bueller, and "knocking on the door of the upper minors". Let's do this! I'm totally psyched!
  5. Nshore
Rather than dumping a guy, I would flip Roden for one of the pretend phenoms such as Jenkins to see what he can do.
  6. Nshore
I know this is a minority viewpoint, but I wouldn't be so eager to dump Larnach. Some of those guys in the minors haven't even proven they can stay on a baseball field for a full season, let alone hold up under the grind of a Major League schedule. The "logjam" is an illusion. Make them earn it rather than hand it to them.

Getting shut out at home by the no pitch Athletics is not exactly revving up for a play off push. I think they just made their definitive buy/sell statement.
  8. Nshore
They probably will sell - which means it'll probably be at least 3 years before they're even competitive again - which also means I have to massively cut down on the sugar and alcohol if I'm going to live to see it.

Although Lewis is 27 years old, he's missed a huge amount of time, which obviously has a large impact on development at the highest level of baseball. Three years ago Buxton hit .207, as an example of how injuries can impact players - or even the improvement of Larnach - who hasn't been hampered by injuries. If they jettison Lewis it would be a calculated gamble. It all depends on the deal they can get. It wouldn't be a surprise if he suddenly puts it all together.

Overlooking the condescension in your yeah, hmmmmmmm comment, yes they're all in play - FOR THE RIGHT DEAL. And determining the right deals is why Zoll gets paid the big bucks.

I got all excited when they recently took 2 out of 3 in New York which is a rare occurrence to say the least. But it's pretty clear that this team as currently constructed doesn't quite have the horsepower for consistent performance. And it's all about winning to bring the fans back. Anybody should be available for the right deal.

The Twins are full of team players, so they're working hard together to make the buy/sell decision an easy one for management. Not just losses, but no chance, embarrassing, blowout losses.

Five time All Star Earl Battey showed them the way!

Sonny Gray is 12 and 1 for the Red Sox. He'd look pretty good in the Twins' rotation. Letting him go was a more significant blunder than signing Carlos Correa IMO. Instead, they're sending out 8th round pick Zebby Matthews against the Cubs and hoping he becomes a pitcher some day.

The eerie part of all this is that Tom Pohlad looks almost exactly like my brother - whose name is Tom. There's something very strange going on here.
  16. Nshore
I know no one anywhere agrees with me, but I would switch Roden and Jenkins.

Regarding the base running gaffes - they're 4 runs down in the 9th inning - so why are they even thinking of taking chances - especially thunderfoot Bell? Baseball and baseball strategy is ALL these guys do for a living. Sometimes it's hard to believe that.
  18. Nshore
When they picked up Cody Clemens I knew he would end up being a good all around defender and a productive middle of the order hitter - said no one. That's one of the amazing things about baseball. Full of surprises.
  19. Nshore
Sometimes I do think that a transition period in the field can effect a player's production at the plate - for better or worse. Maybe once Gonzalez gets a little more comfortable at 1B his bat will catch up.
  20. Nshore
Not to be jaded or anything, but there are plenty of can't miss super phenoms such as Miguel Sano who fizzled. Lewis, Buxton, others all have had immense struggles at one time or another. They really don't know who any of these guys are until the rubber meets the ML road.

This was a known issue with Prielipp from before day 1 of the season. I'm kind of surprised they don't have a plan all mapped out. Or maybe they do and they're not saying. From what Shelton said, they're kind of flying by the seat of their pants.
  22. Nshore
Lewis has amazed me - I really thought he was done. He looks good at a brand new position and seems to be getting better. I'd keep him on the field as much as possible. Keaschall also seems to be really coming on after the move to the outfield. He looks great out there. Part of maximizing their chances comes from the continuous improvement of those 2 players. Jeffers, Buxton, Lewis, and Keaschall - I think that 's going to be some serious right handed firepower in the second half.

If I may again obsess about the Varland trade for a moment... In a race like this, it may very well come down to just a game or two difference at the end. The Twins have already lost multiple games they should have and would have won with Varland at the back end of the pen. It will come back to bite them. Rojas and Roden better be good.........someday.
  24. Nshore
I don't think Jansen is a possibility for a variety of reasons - the main one being that the Tigers are coming on strong. Objects in your rear view mirror may be closer than they appear.
  25. Nshore
This Twins team still seems full of possibilities. Maybe the Cubs and Guardians will squash that hope, but I don't think so. Teams often evolve for better or worse as the season progresses, and this team seems to definitely be getting stronger. An asset like Ryan is extremely hard to come by. Mr. Pohlad and Zoll, please don't screw this up.
