  1. Kreidler can hit just fine! He has only one fewer home runs than the mighty Wallner, and only 2 fewer RBI's!
  2. New promotion - one lucky fan per game is chosen at random and granted the privilege of smoking a cigar in the stands to bring back the memories of the old Met Stadium.
  3. I don't have a problem with left handed outfielders. I'm left handed myself. I PREFER left handed outfielders. But can they play the game of baseball. Ty Cobb, Stan Musial, and Ted Williams were left handed outfielders. Just find players of their caliber. Ok Cobb was CF - but still.
  4. My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek. But having said that, I'm not sure fans know how involved he is in day to day personnel decisions and hands on operations. Hopefully not Steinbrenner level.
  5. The biggest draw is the product on the field of course. Tom Pohlad already made a confident statement that the Twins will contend this year. IMO that was pretty important. That gives the effort some positive energy. And if they actually DO contend - one year after turning their bullpen inside out, and then losing Lopez for the year - they should give Pohlad some kind of Bill Veeck award for ownership genius.
  6. Sonny Gray must be shaking in his spikes. I bet he calls in sick.
  7. Lewis better hurry back - he's getting Wally Pipped by Kreidler and Gray. Baseball can be a mind boggling game. Watching them shell Crochet was surreal and astonishing.
  8. I almost have to avert my gaze when any of these guys is pitching in a close game. By the AMG stat, they desperately need an upgrade.
  9. It's the same reason they have Outman on the team - psychological warfare - luring the opponent into a false sense of security. And before they know what hit them, the Twins have won the series.
  10. Bradley seems to lose his release point or something and loses his grip on the strike zone. In his last tune up at Fort Myers they had to take him out, get him recalibrated and put him in later in the game or he might not have made it out of the first inning. Pete Maki is doing a good job so far keeping Bradley glued together.
  11. I wish Morris well. Bullpens are more important than ever and get the call every single game with starters often only going 4 or 5 innings. The precarious state of the Twins' pen makes the Varland trade look even worse IMO. The fan popular Varland would look pretty good as the rock solid closer right now - especially since Pohlad said they want to be a contender this year. He might even help fill some empty seats at Target Field. They took a look at Roden and stashed him back at AAA in favor of no hit Outman. And Rojas is merely a suspect until proven otherwise.
  12. Obviously, the thing to do is to bring Angel Hernandez back as a consultant on the matter. I like the ABS zone. They better be ready to swing the bats. The at bat would have been fine if Lewis would just hit the baseball.
  13. Lewis would have fewer injuries charging a machine gun nest. That guy is as tight as the Tin Man without the oil can.
  14. Outman has some speed and it always surprises me that a guy like that doesn't learn how to bunt better to give himself a better chance. He's pretty much helpless against ML off speed stuff. He needs to try something - anything. Because I think he's going to be around for awhile. I remember Carew could lay down a bunt for a hit pretty much at will, even when the other team was ready for it. But bunting is considered archaic now.
  15. Based on the randomness of it all, I would pay a trained monkey to point at the pick.
  16. Oddly enough, with all their shortcomings, I can foresee Lee or Martin slapping a crucial single in Yankee Stadium in October or November. So leave them alone you hyenas.
  17. The starting rotation is the foundation of a baseball team. I would say so far so good. Maybe Tom Pohlad is a genius.
  18. Whenever I want to complain about dumb things the Twins do I remember that baseball executives are in the business of trying to predict what an 18, 19, or 20 year old is going to be like when they're 25+. Not an easy assignment to say the least. But I still complain anyway.
  19. That was excellent hitting by Jeffers to the opposite field. Wallner and Bell and others have done that recently. Maybe the hitters are finally coming alive.
  20. It would be nice to extend Ryan to get some positive stability in the rotation. They have a good rotation forming. Otherwise it's the baseball version of Sisyphus, always looking for the next pitcher and never quite getting to the top. But I know that's not baseball business reality. The Tigers are probably even going to lose Skubal.
  21. The way to go after Skubal tonight is with small ball IMO. Bunt, steal and make him field his position. Detroit hasn't been all that great in the field this season either. Get them throwing the ball around the field, steal a couple runs, and hope Bradley is lights out.
  22. When Funderburk has to come out for a second inning in any situation it seems like his control issues usually ramp up. It might be better to use him at the start of an inning only.
  23. I saw Wallner actually wait on a change up and go with the pitch to left field for a double - a nice piece of hitting. I...... I don't know what to say.
  24. Which one do you like best- the guy with no fastball, or the guy who can't pitch at all?
