  1. Actually I think Twins fans, at least those very few of us left, have been extremely patient - probably too patient with some of the hapless floundering that goes on.
  2. I suspect that the pro-Wallner stuff is being written by the propaganda arm of the Twins' Central Division competitors. Wallner may end up being the first player in ML history to get through a season with fewer RBI's than HR's. This might be the year.
  3. The Oakland A's have a rapidly improving offense that has a projected line up with 2 players at 23 yrs old, 2 at 24 years old, and 2 at 25 years old. Why can't we have nice things?
  4. About time Gonzalez and Rodriguez were sent down. The Twins don't need any high minded ideas about getting hits with men on base and such. 34 years without a WS appearance, and let's keep it going. The expectations will be Larnach-Outman-Wallner, or LOW. Byron will just have to wait some more.
  5. If it comes down to Outman or E-Rod, I'd take E-Rod any day. E-Rod could take off like a rocket and be just the shot in the arm this franchise needs. They have to take a chance. If E-Rod falls flat and starts to strike out every other at bat, then he's another Outman. If he gets hurt, they have Kreidler or Roden for CF back-up. Pretty easy choice IMO.
  6. The Twins have to continue to hope, but it seems like Prielipp might be a left handed version of Matt Canterino. And Matt can't.
  7. If Mr. Pohlad is interested in putting fannies in the seats, then E-Rod should be out there.
  8. The Twins have the tightest, most pull ready hamstrings in the Major Leagues. We're number one!
  9. Lewis is rapidly entering FITP territory (flash in the pan). Wallner and Larnach are just clogging up the roster for the next batch of prospects. Next!
  10. To further complicate things, I have a sinking feeling that Outman is playing himself onto the team. Diabolical. The final roster is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Maybe they'll ditch both Roden AND Martin and chip away at whatever reason there was to watch the games.
  11. One sliver of hope is that Funderburk may have turned some kind of corner with better control. Maybe he has a higher ceiling than previously thought. Hey I said it was only a sliver. The others are what they are.
  12. Bert Blyleven was getting Major League hitters out when he was 19 years old. Come on Dasan, let's move it.
  13. If Marek Houston can do what Greg Gagne (great glove/weak bat) did for the Twins I think they'll be very happy.
  14. If intangibles are worth anything I just get the feeling that Abel has that bulldog competitive mentality needed for a top of the rotation guy who you want out there in the big games. Getting batters out doesn't hurt either. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Ryan and Abel at the top of the rotation very soon.
  15. Lewis said he was "proud of himself" for reporting his latest injury. He is one strange character. No wonder his muscles seize up. If Brandon Winokur, for example, is a third base candidate, then why doesn't the organization play him primarily at third base now so he can get the reps and experience? The captain of the Twins' ship has jumped overboard, and the ship is drifting into Cape Horn.
  16. "8 of their 18 first round picks have been shortstops". I know that the R2D2 stats are telling the Twins this is a wise strategy. But it would be okay to target first base or some of the other positions a little more often with their picks. Depending upon the luck of the last minute scrap heap to find a first baseman every year is not a wise move IMO. I hope they don't mess with Houston's swing angle too much. As another commenter said that often seems to do as much harm as good.
  17. One more unnecessary comment - I hate the idea of rewarding Wallner with an apparently almost guaranteed 2026 roster spot after his 2025 BA of .202 and a measly 40 RBIs. And he continues his slumber in spring training. Hopefully this is the year he's finally forced out by E-Rod or Gonzalez or SOMEBODY.
  18. Good summary. It seems like SWR had a pretty lousy spring training last year too, but then improved as soon as the real season started - so there's hope. Abel may be the best pitcher in camp - he has to be in the rotation IMO. If I may talk crazy for a moment, they should entertain the idea of slotting Matthews into the bullpen, at least temporarily. I'm confident it won't destroy him. In no way, shape, or form should Outman be on this team and not Roden.
  19. Back in my day when kids walked to school, barefoot, year round, uphill both ways, it sure seems like MLB players were far less injury prone. Now it seems like more than half are made of glass - at least on the Twin's team. There's probably some kind of stat for that.
  20. I think they'll give Topa plenty of rope. They're in dire straits in the pen IMO.
  21. I don't think I've ever seen a wider gap going into a season between what ownership thinks they see on the field (competitive) and what most people can see with their own eyes (desperation/rebuild). Should make it interesting. Shelton's seat was already red hot before he even signed his contract and sat down. Losing Lopez makes his job impossible. I'd oppose extending Lopez. But if Lopez has an interest in coaching after his playing days, they should try to hang on to him. He's one of the most knowledgeable people I've ever heard interviewed about pitching.
  22. Bell had a .552 OPS last year batting right handed, so he's not going to help much there. And by all reports he's as weak at first base as Larnach and Wallner are in the outfield. I guess it's all in how you want to build a roster, but I don't think he helps them.
  23. The Twins are being marched into the Roman gladiator arena without a spear and shield. "We salute you! Strength and honor!"
  24. A better statistical indicator is "release point" - as in release him immediately.
  25. If they keep Wagaman at the expense of Martin, then it's time to give up on baseball and become a fan of Cheese Rolling or Underwater Hockey.
