Yes, let it loose!! I agree, it would be an absolute joy to watch these young guys just start pounding the ball to the yard! Let's win this, the pressure is on Houston!

Mildly surprised to see Jeffers starting again. I don't think it's a bad idea, I'm just a little surprised they're not going with Vazquez for at least one game.

If Vazquez plays, I think it will be on the 2nd day of a back-to-back. Jeffers batting .154 in the playoffs and playing every day shows us what the Twins think of our catchers right now.

Nothing like being the trail cart at a cross country race at...4:00 today.  Better get up early so I don't feel like I'm missing anything.  If Sonny gets those shadows he becomes unhittable.  Keep the ball in the ball park like you've done all year, be patient with Javier and fill up the bases then get a few timely hits.  My jilted Minnesota fandom has me saying this is the one we're supposed to win but we will lose.  My belief that this team has some Kirby and 91 magic in them is fighting that thought.

Would of rather seen Mr, beat the Astro--  Castro  batting 9  instead of Jeffers,  Go Twins

I thought the same thing  , but after reviewing  the lineup  I see what Rocco did and why ...

3 lefties , followed by 2 righties  , followed by 3 lefties  , followed by Jeffers a righty  ...

If you had Castro batting nineth , then you would have 4 lefties hitting in the order ,

Castro  , then top of the order  , got to break up the rhythm of the pitcher some how ...

Umm. OK I'm not sure if that's why. But 👍

Jeremy Pena is a nice player...but he makes me want to beat the Astros 10x more. What was he doing down 5-0, doubling, and doing the humpty dance. Sonny may not be as nice as Lopez if he pulls that again,..

In the above post, I believe "Ryan" was referring to Jeffers and not Joe.

I felt the same, but I do get it after reading this article

I don't really have a problem with that but if Jeffers keeps looking lost out there, spot-starting Christian a few times if the Twins make a deep run is also fine.

Right. He had a down year at the plate, but he's not terrible. How do we know he's not built for October if they bench him the entire series? If a pitcher prefers to have him catch them, let him catch.

Jorge and Royce did their celebrations rounding 3rd after they hit homers when they were down big late in game 1. And I hope they'd do it again if down late but get something going. Pump your teammates up and get them energized whenever you can. There's no clock. The other team still has to beat you until you run out of outs. There's never a time in the postseason that you shouldn't be looking to hype up your team.

Vazquez has a career .633 OPS in 31 postseason games over 10 series. I don't think he's "built for October." I don't think it's the end of the world if he catches a game, but it's all small sample size stuff now. This is not the time to panic over your clearly superior hitter having a couple tough games.

Fair enough. Maybe built for THIS October. He has had some good postseason games. Like you say, not a lot of games to draw full conclusions.

Let's remember Twins 3-1 in post season and the one loss Jeffers went 2-4 so it's not a batting weak link black hole for Jeffers. Guys really like throwing to him as Pablo gave him high praise of credit the other night.  He has really blossomed into the catcher we wanted.  As for looking lost the plate, not sure he is lost as he has missed the one pitch he has been driving in each at bat.  He takes some pitches for sure but with 2 strikes he does choke up on bat and works to put it in play.  He has been solid all year, so not surprised he is lineup again and I like it.  Nothing wrong with riding what has gotten you to a 3-1 post season run thus far.

Thats the thing though. Lopez and Ryan are much better with Jeffers as their catcher.

Gray has been elite with both. Hes slightly better with Vazquez but that difference was 6 months ago in April. Hes been really good with Jeffers for a while too.

SO why would we start a far worse hitter when we have zero need to?
