  1. Mentioned most of this in the game thread. And ironically called the Vazquez part rhetorical. But honestly want opinions. Because I find no logic behind any of this. 1. Honestly Austin Martin even really being on this roster is questionable. He's brutal. We claim reverse splits to sell the Richards trade. We ignored the opposing pitchers reverse splits but claim them ourselves. We send a guy slugging .320 out there simply cause he's right handed? Wallner could go 1/10 with 9 ks and his usual 2 walks and HBP and 110 mph homer. And that's insanely more valuable than Martin 2 hoppers to the pitcher. 2. The Vazquez pinch hit immunity. As I said in the game thread, I've accepted one of the worst hitters in baseball will play every other day, whatever. But aside from Correa and Lewis. No one gets pinch hit for less on this team. We literally never do it for him this year. Never. Just last week we let bat in the 8th of a tie game to lead off. He walked THEN we ran for him with Buxton. Basically we chose him over Buxton. Insane. 3. Also tonight. 2 on 1 out. We go to Larnach over Wallner. All that Wallner does "worse" is K(Larnach still does K). 1st and 2nd down 2-0 a K isn't the worry. What can Wallner do? Slug. Make it 3-2. He can walk. He can get HBP at historically high rates. Load the bases for Buck and Royce. Make. it. Make. Sense. We have a great roster. But we have absolutely bizarre way of picking and choosing when to use any sort of stats and logic. And easy explanation on points 1 and 3 is we hate Wallner even tho production and teams constantly inquiring on him contradicts it. And idk whose making the call on these if its Rocco, Falvey or cheap ass Pohlad. But there's nothing to support any of these types of things.
  2. Buxton misses two meatballs in a row Then swings at ball 4 with Royce on deck. Just brutal
  3. Ha sadly, they do Cause last week vs Philly we let him hit(per usual) and he drew a rare lead off walk. Then we promptly had Buxton run for him So logistically we essentially chose Vazquez bat over Buxtons in a tie game...
  4. I just don't get why Wallner isn't used here He walks more, he gets HBP way more and he has way more power Those are the 3 things you need in this situation.
  5. That was the game when they brought him in after an opener and we pulled lefties like Julien without even taking an AB Manea causes our team from top to bottom to lose all brain functionality.
  6. Great AB by Lee He's been getting a lot of 2-2 and 3-2 counts lately. But in his slump its usually resulted in a weak out or swinging at ball for a K Heck of a walk.
  7. PItchers are also less effective when they have an ass load of time off. They have to pitch eventually They cant just sit around and hope we play a game where we are leading by 1-3 in the 7th. That strategy hasn't worked for a week now.
  8. Ok, so I have finally this season come to terms with the fact that Christian Vazquez is going to play every other day. No matter how insane that is to type out. I've accepted it. Maybe since Jeffers has been ass for months that has helped with that. But what I cannot accept or understand in any form is why does Vazquez have as much immunity to being pinch hit for than Royce and Correa? I'm not kidding. We literally never pinch hit for the guy. There was a game this year when his OPS was .430 and bases were loaded in the 9th and we let him hit. This is rhetorical btw
  9. Well, maybe all we needed was an error Using Kepler as the pinch hit option was certainly a choice.
  10. No we aren't. We have thursday off. They can all pitch back to back days tomorrow if needed Jax and Alcala last pitched exactly a week ago. Duran last Wednesday They were always gonna pitch tonight. That's why if our offense had even a drop of self respect, Festa did his job today through 5. Cause we were gonna unleash the big guns
  11. This is who he is and why his current average is not really sustainable per his exit velos If he ever at any point develops a semblance of plate discipline though, watch out. Cause he can hit anything reasonably around the plate.
  12. We are not even attempting to have good at bats tonight. This is all time bad. And don't get me wrong. Heck of an unexpected year from Miranda. And he will need to go 0 for his next 75 to be Austin Martin level But man, at some point hes got to realize that swinging at every pitch over your head is horrible baseball.
  13. Got nasty stuff The 2 runs were text book examples of the thin line he walks currently being unable to consistently control said stuff. But he did his job with our pen(the ones worth pitching that is) fully rested. Offense has failed, miserably.
  14. Can we at least send Martin to the gallows(of major league baseball) a long with it?
  15. I haven't ever liked the guy Matt Wallner had to hit a billion home runs in AAA and still couldn't come up until AFTER Martin got hurt. The guy is horrendous. If he was held to the same standard as Wallner who after an excellent season last year was demoted after 25 ABs............Martin would be out of baseball for life
