Well, I guess it's time to start rooting against the Twins! 2 hours ago, tony&rodney said: It read like Hayes had been admonished recently, because Hayes seemed to defer to "other" plans. What plans? I guess we will just be patient and wait to see what transpires before Opening Day. The article was comical. Well, whomever told Hayes about Gallo was right... they had a backup plan, it just turns out to be a really bad one!
tony&rodney Verified Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Simply insane. Wallner is better right now than Gallo. The math says $11 million for Gallo and $720 thousand for Wallner. And Kepler, far superior - $8.5 million.
DJL44 Verified Member Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 I think I'm ready to pivot too. Trying to figure out what other MLB team to follow next season. MLB.tv is actually a pretty good deal. I can follow a different team for $100. I think it needs to be a National League team, I don't want to root against the Twins, just ignore them. I thought about following the Padres - I've sort of liked that team since they had Tony Gwynn. Problem is they're a west coast team and I can't stay up that late. The NL East teams are all either big market or not trying. I need a team that starts games at 6 or 7, not 9:00. St. Louis is the model of how to run a mid-market franchise. The Brewers look decent and they have no problem going for it if they're close to the playoffs. Any opinions on Brewers or Cardinals? SanoMustGo and Mike Sixel 2

The Twins were better, in relation to the rest of the league, at getting on base last year than they were at slugging. So maybe someone with power would actually be the bigger improvement on the offense. Gallo hit ?? 3 sacrifices is that rumor true? in his Career

I’ve been a diehard fan since 1987 (12 yrs old). I went to games in the late 90s where there were less than 10,000 people in the stands. We used to budget one family game a month - for affordability. Now it just isn’t worth it. The cost to experience ratio is way off and the Twins better start listening to their fans before it is too late. What is the financial level where they cannot afford to run Target Field anymore? So to the point, I just can’t take it anymore. I’d probably go with the Cardinals. They seem to try on a consistent basis. DJL44 1

That would probably be a statistical outlier. I will need to see evidence of this being a good signing before I have any confidence. I have no faith that this organization can compete. Let's face it, 2019 was also a statistical outlier for this franchise since 2010. And yes, the 2020 team was not that good. They got lucky since they only played games against an awful AL central. And that team also finished 26-24 after a 10-2 start. Other than 2019 the Twins have been average to garbage Going forward I will need to see it on the field, not just on paper or someone's opinion. Right now I see a 75 win team unless I see a better record at the end of the 2023 season. Since they signed the 19th corner outfielder on the 40 man, they will probably trade a young guy instead of Kepler, which means more of the same going forward.

It's just ridiculous and further proof that the FO, I'm sorry, just doesn't have a plan whatsoever. "Turner could provide the Twins with several important characteristics, notably a right-handed hitting third baseman to pair with Jose Miranda who could provide valuable leadership in the clubhouse. " Pretty sure pairing Turner at 3rd with Miranda being a RH hitter doesn’t make much sense. He’s. it coming from L.A. to MN. I suggested something similar with Evan Longoria, to spell Miranda at 3rd occasionally - DH as RH hitter - bring a positive attitude. This response is delayed enough so that I already know the sickening sign of the worst of all, Mr. .160BA for 2022 - Joey Gallo. Gotta keep spending and sign Eovaldi & a reliever to salvage the off season.

But citing batting average as your sole evaluation of Gallo is lazy. In addition to "not being able to hit", he strikes out a crap load, walks, hits HRs and plays decent defense. So, yeah, citing batting average is missing the point of Joey Gallo. And it's lazy. And, btw, I hate the signing as I've stated in other threads. So go pound sand. Then maybe next time say "only batting average."

That includes offensive stalwarts like Oswaldo Arcia, so I raised the bar from qualified to 2k at bats. that makes Gallo number 2 behind something called Ryan Freel who had 21 sac hits, making Gallo likely number 1 im not sure what this prestige tells us though, since Ted Williams had no Sac hits and only 20 sac flies in his career. He likely just had enormous RISP and only played a few years after the stat was instituted

I'm not going to get any sleep tonight because I'll be trying to figure out how this is even possible. Freel hit 22 Home Runs so he probably couldn't reach the OF. ? Gallo has the strength to reach the warning track with his pop ups. His home run total of 177 is tops on the list while his 12 GDP is lowest on the list.
