It isn't the pitcher doing well to strike him out....and it isn't him doing well to walk? Seems a bit one sided .....

 

It is. I'm just saying the elevated walk rate isn't coming for free. Sano has always had a pretty good eye, but he still struggles with recognizing or making contact on pitches down in the zone or below the zone and that's where pitchers are focusing. It leads to a lot of swings and misses but also a lot of walks if he can lay off. Until he is able to punish those pitches there won't be many balls in play and Sano's value will be severely capped.

Well that pinch hit situation sent the exact opposite message to Polanco than I wanted.

 

Keep him on the bench.

 

Fine line....show confidence in an employee, or bench him....I'm at the bench him point, but I get it.

I forgot how close he was too it -- he was practically in place to catch it himself.  I am sure his eye sight and concentration is much better than it was 11 years ago.

Okay, it actually made some sense to PH Garver there, and he strikes out on 4 pitches. It seems like they don’t even want to win.
