Yeah. Yeah.

I'm pretty forgiving of managers because they're so often making a 55/45 decision. It's not all that clearcut most of the time.

But FFS, this bullpen this season... and he's using Robles in the seventh? WHY?

I'm more displeased that Pineda didn't come out to face the bottom of the order than anything. Expose the bullpen as little as possible.

Also....again....he has no / few good options in the pen right now.....at some point, they have to be able to get the number 9 hitter out...and that's on them and the FO, not him.

leaving the starter in is a good option

It's for stolen base attempts only...not for trying to turn a single into a double, etc. Make contact with the bag before the tag is applied and your safe. Simple as that. Easiest way to increase stolen base attempts, imo

So you can overrun the base completely? Or slide to the side and slap the base with your hand to evade the tag, like guys do at home plate?

I think making the bases larger (thus shortening the distance between them) and limiting pickoff throws would be far easier and more effective ways to encourage stolen base attempts, and both of those things are being testing in minor leagues this season.

I'd be in favor of a time limit on instant replays too, although that seems like an entirely separate concern from incentivizing stolen base attempts.

At 87 pitches, with 7-8-9 coming up, I think Pineda probably should have stayed in for the 7th.

Not that he had been super-sharp -- I'm guessing Baldelli didn't want Pineda to put a runner on and have to bring in a reliever mid-inning when the top of the order came up again. But limiting bullpen exposure to potentially 2 innings might have been worth it, I think.
