And I still don't understand how Jeffers, and Sano, get ABs in the 7th but not Buxton.

Yes, Buxton would have been ideal to bat for Jeffers - looks like Jeffers was afraid that he would hit into a DP

This homestand is like watching a Twins playoff series. Bats get scared and cool off and every break they get is followed by three dumb luck breaks they didn't get.

 

Watch, we're going to find out that Buxton isn't in game 2 either due to non-covid illness.

No, he hit a sharp liner down the left field line that landed about a foot foul.  if it lands fair, Cave scores with ease, and Sano is at second with only one out.

I'm somewhat intrigued by the idea of the double-hook (as a ploy to incent teams to keep the starter in longer), but since this would only impact 1-2 PA's a game, I'm not sure how much of an impact it would have.  I think a more interesting move would be to grant the opposing team a base for all runners every time a team brings in a relief pitcher who is the 4th or greater to be brought in.  If the bases are empty, it would be a walk for whomever is due up.
