Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 The Twins need to be able to win some low-scoring games. Can’t always hang it on the offense. There were three shutouts in MLB today.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 lot a pressure on the bullpen when the starter can’t go 6 inningsOutside of a few freaks, nobody's staters go more than 6 any more. The average MLB start isn't even 6. Which everybody knew going into this season, last season, the season before.... That's what management PLANNED for. You get no pass for planning on your pen covering nearly half the season's innings and then being shocked---SHOCKED I TELL YOU---when there's "a lot of pressure" on your pen. And zero slack for finding the pen wanting.

You're right, the FO planned to get 4 or 5 innings a game out of the pen and they guys they chose haven't been up to the task. That philosophy puts pressure on a bullpen. The bats inability to extend a lead only puts more on it. These are the guys they chose. They most certainly don't get a pass on that.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 He wasn't great in ST and the decision had nothing to do with service time.....Cave had been meh or worse for some time......Garlik? Not a starter. Kiriloff might be. At some point, this team needs to develop some players from the last four or five drafts.....
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 If Detroit and Chicago can both hold 6-0 leads, we could end the day last in the division. Nowhere to go but up, eh?

I was pretty vocal about my dislike of both Garlick and Astudillo getting a roster spot over Kirilloff.
