It's still been a great season and there is a lot for this team to build on.

 

Yeah, this series was bad but, realistically, the Twins really didn't have the pitching to compete.

 

Hopefully, the pitching holes are filled in the off-season.

 

I was at least hoping the Twins would make a better showing, but, as of right now, it isn't going to happen.

 

Ah well.

I doubt you will ever see a lot of money spent on a pitching rotation here. If you look back since around 1994-95, the Twins haven't really invested much in their pitching staff. They've only had one ACE during that time, Johan Santana. Radke wasn't really an ACE, neither was Pavano though he did have a nice season or 2 here. But even when they had Santana, they only had a strong 1-3 the year Santana, Liriano and Radke were on the staff in 06. Liriano and Santana were dominant difference makers on the mound and they haven't had that since. Pitchers are the biggest risk on the free agent market and bankers don't like to take risks. I'm sure Carl gave that same advice to Jim. So unless the Twins develop their own ACE, I don't see them signing a Gerrit Cole type of player, let alone several of them ala the Astros.

That was a nice grab by Gorgonzola or whatever, but it didn't hurt that it was hit exactly one body length away from him. It didn't look like a particularly exotic shift, either.

Probably wouldn’t have mattered but Kepler changed this entire inning by swinging at a pitch in the RH batters box

Develop our own ace...didn't we just complete a draft in which 1 of our first 10 selections was even a pitcher?  Just seems like developing starting pitchers, over the last 25 years, is something we rarely prosper in

Whatever you think of the Pohlad's, I'm quite certain they give Falvey a budget. He is not told what type of players he can and can't sign.

You mean the part where the shortstop stood pretty much exactly where a shortstop stands in baseball?

 

That wasn't placement, it was just a great play on a ball hit just a few inches too far one direction.

Don’t take it for granted. People don’t always stand where they’re supposed to

how big were those two runs? And Didi breaks our heart again, Kepler was a total waste in this series. And what was Cruz doing watching strike 3 right down the center of the plate to end it?

 

A completely miserable post season. In every way.

 

Now everyone can start telling us how we should be happy that we won 101 games.

 

Failure like this in post season is nothing to be proud of. But thats only how I feel. Others will see it differently. It was painful watching these 3 games.
