nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 He'd be nice to have. Funny how the Brewers can make trade almost every year and they're farm system isn't gutted. I don't know, I looked at this guys numbers and he's never done much outside of the PCL. If he's the Brewers #3 prospect, that doesn't look terribly promising for their farm.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Bottom line is that fans were lied to. Ownership claims money isn’t an impediment to additions. Front office claims that additions will be made if the timing is right. One of them flat out lied. This is Falvine clinging to their prospects. The only one the Pohlads may factor into would be Grienke.
Highabove Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I have been a season ticket holder for over ten years. I have never been as stressed about Twins related matters as I am now, I ask why.It is just not about the Players that we need to add. We will learn a lot about the mindset of this organization in less then two hours. I have had a fear that while this Organization puts a lot of emphasis on fielding a good competitive product, I also suspect that winning a championship is not a high priority of theirs.I hope I am proven wrong. howeda7 1

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Not making additions also sends a clear message to potential free agents from the FO and/or ownership. That message being “we don’t care”.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 The Division Series will be against either the Astros or Yankees. No chance with this bullpen.I believe the Division Series is a best of 5, and anything can happen which is why I say they could win it. If it's best of 7 I would agree with you.

prouster Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I don't know anything about Twitter, but isn't 3K+ followers high for someone with only 7 Tweets? Also, now she says Zach Wheeler is the fall back option if they don't get Minor. The account has existed since 2014, so I guess it’s possible followers slowly accumulated? It’s also possible that whoever runs the account bought followers. At any rate, I’m not sure why someone posing as a news breaker wouldn’t put their name on their account.

HawksNest Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Trade deadline day appearing bleaker by the minute. Very little Twins chatter. ZERO Twins chatter. Zilch. Nada.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm assuming nothing either way, but to answer the question, I will be disappointed if they add nothing else. I also believe it sends a message to players that this team will never go all in, making some free agents less likely to sign here. gunnarthor 1
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 ZERO Twins chatter. Zilch. Nada. The Romo deal was sort of unexpected for the timing of it. I'd expect the same from any deal made today. That said, getting pretty anxious here with 75 mins to go.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Dbacks acquire last night's Marlins starter Zac Gallen. Rays have made an offer for Mets SP Zack Wheeler.
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Long-time Twins' fan living in New Jersey. The trade deadline prompted me to register here. Mostly so that I can complain and wonder what the front office is thinking if they do indeed let the deadline pass without another move. What happen to that talk about making moves when the championship window is open? If they don't consider the window to be open for a team with this offense then there never will be. notoriousgod71, In My La Z boy and Oldgoat_MN 3
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Gallen? Isn't that the kind of player that the Marlins want to keep? gunnarthor and Danchat 2
Twodogs Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I wonder if some of the GM's don't particularly care for Falvey and Levine? You know it's possible, maybe not likely, but possible that this is still a good ole boys club and maybe some of these GM's don't deal fairly with the Twins GM's. I know the Twins were deep into the conversation with Toronto for Stroman, to me it's weird that the Mets got Stroman for very little? Like where Toronto might have wanted some crazy sum of parts from the Twins but gave him to the Mets for what seems like not much? Seems like every off season these guys have been left behind by all of the super signings even though they have been very much in the conversation with all of the players? I'm just wondering if these guys just aren't part of the group? So we end up with guys like Nelson Cruz who is 39, but is having an amazing season and other moves similar to that? I know it sounds terrible, but I'm just wondering?
dex8425 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Gallen? Isn't that the kind of player that the Marlins want to keep? One would certainly think so but it's the Marlins, so nothing they do makes sense. TwinsFanSince86 1
mlhouse Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 They must be at least a little bit consistent because they are inherently predictable. They are always so worried about doing too much that they never do enough. Yeah, I get what you are saying except they are completely different sides of the field. In the end, Minnesota sports owners just will never go full bore to field a team. Minneapolis/St Paul is not a "small" market but the area is not very sports conducsive. Local revenues just cannot compete against other areas. So, that is why we have the owners we have, it isn't just a coincidence. Doomtints 1
TwinsFanSince86 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 I'm sure there will be a spin... The relievers that went off the board - the Twins are more comfortable with 'known' commodities like Duffey and Littell... Or... The asking price for these relievers was exceptionally high - just for when the Twins were making the calls.
