Except people are saying Sano can't hit, and not as well as Mauer.....I mean, he's no Hall of famer, but to say he can't hit, or isn't clutch, ignores the actual outcomes Sano has produced.

He's an oft-injured third baseman with questionable defense who cranks homers when he manages to stay on an MLB roster.

 

He's not Mauer. Not even close.

It depends on how you criticize ... critical thinking and posting are most definitely allowed. Trashing and disrespect, not so much. Maybe some don't quite understand the difference?

I stopped by my usual little neighborhood bar on the way home, and struck up a conversation with a fellow that happened to sit down next to me at the bar. The usual stuff, weather, politics, sports. He spoke with a Spanish accent, so I had to ask...and yup, he had emigrated from Mexico. 

 

"I came here 4 years ago, with only the shoes on my feet, and a sack on my back," said my new friend. "And now I have a $400,000 house, two nice cars, and over a million dollars in the bank."

 

"Wow," I said. "That's awesome. Tell me...what was in the sack?"

 

"$25 million dollars," he said.

 

I don't get it. So he got married, or...?

Dude has more K’s than RBI with RISP over the last 4 seasons and we aren’t allowed to criticize. It’s bonkers

 

Of course we can criticize, 100% of us are right there with you being frustrated. It's just that there's a lot of other stuff going on in this game besides Sano being terrible. A lot of this back and forth about Sano could be dished out on a separate thread rather than in the 9th inning of a 2-2 game.

 

Great inning from Rogers. I'd like to see the Twins walk this one off here.

Sano makes me even more skeptical about Brent Rooker. I thought it was a good pick, and I thought he had a chance to be in the majors and producing even by now, given how old he was at the draft. Now I think he's trade bait.

 

A little off topic, I know, but the longer he goes with that high K rate in the minors the less likely he is to do anything in the majors. Any power hitter can grab a hold of one and send it 500 feet from time to time, but it's pretty one-dimensional. With no defensive value, I don't know that he has a place on this team.

One more Strat-O-Matic update: the Twins fell 10-7 to the Red Sox, but the ending of the game fit the tone of this game thread perfectly. What happened, you ask?

 

The Twins had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, and Sano came up to the plate... yup, you know what happened.

I did post some stats to back up my complaints so.

I’m guessing the frustration stems from the belief that the Twins ratio of wins and losses is significantly disproportionate to you ratio of complaints and compliments.

 

That’s your right (within the rules of the site) but I hope you can see how raining on the parade can rub folks the wrong way.
