Sano in high leverage situations--1.262 OPS, .503 wOBA, 222 wRC+, 66.7% hard hit rate, 0.0% soft hit rate.

Where are you getting this?

BRef shows him at .795 coming into tonight.

Of course, that's for the tiny sample size of 2019.

More telling, IMO:

career:

when behind in the count: .465 OPS

 after 0-1: .632 OPS

after 0-2: .418

any time with 2 strikes: .524

The man  can't hit if he falls behind. And he falls behind a lot.

I hate to say this- because I hate Boston with an abiding passion--

But this series really has the feel of a playoff series.

it has the feel of the Twins are not playoff ready. time to fix it though, their great record is not what they should be looking at

I appreciate Sano's OPS. Still, he gets a hit less than 25% of the time.

What just happened is going to happen far more often than not.

With RISP, give me Joe Mauer.

Joe Mauer career in high leverage situations--.834 OPS, .360 wOBA, 115 wRC+, 34.6% hard hit rate, 14.5% soft hit rate.

In other words, for their careers, Joe Mauer is Matt Olson, and Miguel Sano is Mike Trout.

Well this bullpen is worse though. I would like to see Pineda out there.

They are limiting his innings post surgery so he could be a piece in October!

I admittedly couldn’t tell you exactly what a “high leverage situation” is, but at least for this year with RISP, he’s 3 for 19 with 5 RBIs and 9 K’s, .158 BA, OPS .713. Maybe not a ton of at bats but come on we can’t criticize lol get out of here

Incredible catch! Dang you gotta apreciate that no matter what side you're on. This Bradley guy seems to do this once a week.

Heh.

I once looked up Joe's numbers with RISP and they were eye-poppingly good.

For Joe's career with the bases loaded and 2 outs he had an OPS of .913.

Amazing.

*groan*

Let me know how Sano does in five years. Or ten. Or after he has a career-changing concussion.

Or if he ever starts catching.

You'll definitely have to try harder to do that, I've been around too long. Can't speak for eveyone else though.

If it annoys the others, they don’t take your allegedly non-annoyed tone. We’re all fans here, fella.

How often does it happen that a player who ends an inning with a great defensive play lead off the next inning? Answer: about 1/9th of the time.

That seems a tad high...

Baseball Reference apparently has a broader definition of high leverage, as they show 15 PA's, against 7 on fangraphs.

The comforting thing is that Houston is going through a similar rough patch. They lost today with Verlander starting for them.
