DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 Las Vegas?Yes. And yes, I did bet $20 to win $50,000. Because I am an idiot.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Yes.And yes, I did bet $20 to win $50,000. Because I am an idiot.I'd actually bet $50,000 to win 20 bucks. Of course by the time you cash your bet you've actually lost money. But hey, comped lunch!
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 2500-1? Seems a little optimistic to me!
Ncgo4 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 I'm chartering a flight to Vegas tomorrow so my friends and I can get in on this free money! Go Twins!
jimmer Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Twins odds of winning the World Series according to Vegas.DiscussShould be higher. Like 1,000,000,000:1

BobAzar Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Hey, Leicester City had worse odds!
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Should be higher. Like 1,000,000,000:1For that I'd invest my dollar. Not for 2500 - trying to find a way to short that.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 2500-1? Seems a little optimistic to me! I was going to say that too. I'm surprised that the odds are that good.
jimmer Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Hey, Leicester City had worse odds! Before the season started they did. Not almost halfway through the season :-)
scottz Verified Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 If it were 2500:1 on next year, I'd throw $20 at it. Maybe even $50. There is a lot of time for moves to be made to improve this terrible team next year where we may have a glimmer of hope. And we may have a new GM to make it happen. Maybe. We'll see. But for this year? No, no. That $20 would be better off putting it on a hand of blackjack, and just letting it ride for 11 straight wins and walking away with $41K.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 No way, I'd rather put that money on the lottery at this point.....which I realize is irrational, btw.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 FWIW, Fangraphs has us at 0.0% across the board for playoff odds.Except, somehow, in "coin flip mode", we do managed 0.1% in playoff/division/ALDS odds. I guess because no one has ran away with our division yet (although we have pretty much run away in the opposite direction). Looks like we were still at 0.5% playoff odds two weeks ago, and 0.2% a week ago. Now I guess it is 0.049% or less...

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 2-0 since the bet was placed.Your welcome.

glunn Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 It is still at least theoretically possible for the Twins to make the postseason, but only in the event of some cataclysm on the order of 11 plane crashes of other teams' airplanes and a willingness of MLB to continue the postseason after such an unthinkable loss.

Jerr Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Soooo, is there a team with longer odds???? I hope the Twins are the longest shot!
