Buxton is playing at a true all star level this year. Now if we could only get Correa and Lewis going, the offense would be in a much better place. Imagine if we still had Keaschal hitting like he was and Wallner adding home runs every few games .....I'm still waiting for Mccusker to be rewarded with a call up cup of coffee. The guy has proved everything he can in AAA, time for the next test. Keirsey provides no value other than a late game pinch runner or defensive sub. Is that more important than a potential impact power bat? I'd rather have the bat any day ....

I am going to guess that is the best game Paddack has pitched in a Twins uniform.

Easily Paddack's best start as a Twin - could be his best start ever. He was on it all game after the near HR that went just foul.

After years of people mocking how weak the AL Central has been it would incredible if 4 teams from it made the play offs.

Arguably yes.

Yesterday his game score was 74. His best game score as a Twin is 75  in a game last year against the White Sox with 7 shut out innings. Given the quality of competition I would have to give the nod to last night’s game. He has another 74 in an 8 inning start against Cleveland last year. It might take precedence given the importance of the game but Duran blew the save in the 9th. He also has a 73 against Boston as a Twin.

Probably not his best start ever though. He had three starts with game scores in the 80s in his rookie season.

I never thought this team would even sniff 500 after their horrible start to the season.  Maybe I've just jinxed them as they are not quite there yet, but to have nibbled their way this close seems extraordinary given the offensive limitations and the imploding pitching they tend to have.

I don't know that they can keep this up, but kudos to them for getting back in it.  I mean I had just recently been cheering for them to lose and for players like France, Castro and  Bader to do well so they could fetch players at the deadline.  If this team can continue to pitch this well consistently they can play with anyone.

Also FWIW I never in my wildest dreams thought Paddack could go 6 no hit innings or ever go 7 innings in a game.  He just hasn't looked capable.  And yet here we are in one of the more Jekyll and Hyde starts to a season I can remember.  I give up trying to figure this team out.  Will just have to see how things play out, but I am going to try to keep some type of positive spin whether they keep winning or losing.

I’m pleasantly surprised as well unfortunately every team ahead of the Twins in the central has gone on a win streak of approximately the same length and so the Twins have made no progress in the standings.

Haven't the last three seasons been like this, though?

I love the winning. Let's hope it continues. But they dug themselves an early hole that gives them much less margin for error than their competition. I'm not at all certain that, even if the team rights the ship in May-June, we won't see a similar out-of-gas ending in August-September.

But that's why we play the games anyway. Let's see what happens.

Nobody’s sure about the results going forward  for Twins nor anyone else.

Correct, that’s why they play the games.

………..

Correa just getting more toward normal self - Wallner back in 2-3 weeks - Lewis has to be at least an Average Contributor going forward - Keaschall a wild card add after the All-Star break. I like the roster, if healthy.

They’ll have bullets for trade at deadline with young pitching, if they want to pursue someone specific for the offense.

Could just keep their young guys and SIGN free agent J.D. Martinez June 1st and pay him $8M or so for the balance of the year. He could take the month of June to get sharp in St Paul……….worth considering. He had a 107 OPS+ with 41 XBH in ‘24. He’s not washed - just expensive for a DH “only”……..maybe it’s $5M with another $3-$5M of incentives? I’m assuming he’d like to play?

Wish the could start a season the way they start playing 25-30 games in.

A Minnesota team that plays poorly in cold weather?!

Buck is carrying the offense.  Hopefully he can keep that going until Correa gets on track, Lewis gets his legs under him, Wallner and Keaschell get back.  We may have a semi-competent offense when everyone is back.

Did anybody else who paid for the Twins MLB package get blocked out for last night's Apple telecast?  I thought when I purchased the $99 MLB season package that I'd get every game.

It sucks, doesn't it?

Did all the players have those awful looking stirrup socks? Normally, I enjoy the look but clearly these uniforms were designed by St Peter as his nasty-gotcha legacy.

Paddock threw 20 first-pitch strikes to 25 batters.

Oh, that pitchers find the strike zone. Early and often. Reminds me of how Gibby used to nibble and dink around and get behind with his counts and then have to come in with it late in the count and get shelled.

Paddack. Wow. Best outing of the year, by any Twin. Kinda out of nowhere, given the pitch efficiency and the opponent. All his starting colleagues are welcomed to one-up this performance.

I wonder what changed in the spreadsheet before the game that Rocco decided to let Paddock pitch that long?

It wasn’t pitch count.

Suddenly the AL central is one of the best divisions in baseball 😂

As long as you don’t look at the column in the standings that says “>.500”.

They should really make these guys a deal: lead the AL in pitching and you can burn these horrific jerseys.

Still looks like a Marlins jersey... like if they were sponsoring a beer league softball team.

Yeah, similar to last year. Feasting on those sox who are 2-14 inside the ALC. Those 2 wins were against the twins

Couldn't be happier for Paddack. Had to feel great- maybe great enough to forget years of rehab and frustration, at least for a bit.

See ya again in 5 days Chris. You've set some higher expectations...

This game was just such a refreshing throw-back to how baseball games used to be played, The starting pitchers went deep enough to keep the game from becoming a bullpen parade. Strikeouts were limited allowing more balls to be put in play and fielding to be more of a factor. There were enough good plays and scoring chances to keep fans engaged despite being a low-scoring game AND - it was played in a tidy 2 hours and five minutes. If anyone needs a pattern for the desired baseball game esthetic, they should look at this as an example.
