So, not an MLB move, but an interesting one.  Twins signed Wynton Benard to a AAA contract.  Who is Wynton Benard?  A right handed hitting center fielder with good speed, and frankly a pretty decent AAA hitter.  He was briefly at MLB with the Rockies in 2022, but has spent most of the past half decade at AAA for more organizations than I wanted to count, waiting for a chance.

He's neither young nor a prospect, but he has options and can be stashed at AAA and called up and then sent back whenever needed.  Basically, he's Buxton insurance.... or just maybe a 4th/5th outfielder if you absolutely positively feel the need to carry a platoon guy for the lefties.  It's entirely possible we never see him put on a Twins uniform.... but he does provide a kind of security blanket for a FO that likes to stash depth.  It could, just possibly, mean that the FO is preparing to trade one of the current outfielders.

Darren Wolfson on KSTP TV just said Miranda to the IL and Diego A. Castillo called up. So need a 40 man spot now as well.

Boushley DFA’d to make room for Castillo on the 40-man. It wouldn’t surprise me if Castillo is DFA’d as soon as tomorrow.

Boushley accepted outright assignment to St. Paul. He stays in the organization as depth. Adding Zebby to the Saints rotation might cause someone to lose their job, but I guess it won't be Boushley.

To be fair to the original poster the transaction didn't clarify he was going to the miinors. And the Weiss transaction technically is a 40 man move.

Hopefully with Correa they just want him to rest and he'll be back within the 10 days.

Topa on a rehab stint. Will be curious to see who gets the boot if / when he's back.

Julien looks overmatched and not quite ready for the speed of MLB. I hope he can find confidence in St Paul and earns a call up in September.
