Very true! I've noticed that a lot of Taylor's homers have been like that. Once again, surprising power for a guy not known for his strength, but I hope it continues.

To all those talking about sending these interlopers back to Milwaukee without their money etc, I hate to tell you but many of them live among you right there in the Twin Cities, lol.

I'm not letting your facts get in the way of my fun!

Very nice win and having our all-star SS back from the abyss in just what this team needs to turn this home stand into a launching pad!

Yep. The St. Croix is the boundary separating us from the dark side, and that's only 28 miles from Target Field.

Sure. But it was still a pretty funny crack to overhear,

Also, it was abysmal getting out of the ramp last night. never taken so long to get anything moving before, literally just sitting in cars and nothing moving at all.

Well, if there's no place to tailgate........

In a nutshell, Lopez seems to have one bad inning and it is sudden and then is over and he resumes throwing very well. I thought that his remarks were really on target. It's weird that this guy does that and that he does not have more decisions. Morneau is not one of my favorite commentators, but he has improved, he does give his opinions and does not waver on them, but needs to learn less is more.

Hope this helps.

Twins Geezer.

Many of them are driving all the way back to Hudson this evening.

When Williams came into the game I assumed it was over for the Twins. This was one of biggest wins this season. I think many Twins fans were thinking another lost game.  Winder did a good job in his 2 innings to hold then scoreless so maybe the Twins have a RP that will not walk batters and throw strikes.

If it wasn't for Taylor and castro's stealing bases , where would the twins be in stolen bases , sure they could get caught stealing and cost us an out , but a double play  costs us two outs ...

Keep the runners running  ... Bremer suggested Taylor could bunt to lead off the ninth like he did in Toronto to give the twins a spark ,,, that was the longest hit bunt i have ever seen dick , good call ...

My criticism Sunday was Winder deserved a shot over Pagan. Glad they finally gave him a chance last night and more happy that he pitched well.

I think those takes are pretty much BS either way. We don’t know, personally, what’s in the hearts and minds of anyone. It’s just an easy go to or explanation for some when we lose or when a player does poorly or when the manager does something inexplicable to us. I get that some think it’s what they perceive, but still, it’s not a quality anyone can know unless they are personally acquainted with each member individually.

This is correct.  One of the things I've been puzzled about this team is that with all the frustrating seemingly easy wins given away they are very solid in bigger situations.  The Astros, Yankees and Dodgers series were all well played.  Other than falling flat against the Rays they seem to rise to the level of competition.  Burnes and Williams yesterday.  So hard to know at all what goes on in the minds of 28 year olds in a 162 game season.  Correa has long said its about building to the postseason.  There are blocks to build with here.

I've been on a Win Probability Added kick these past few days.  Three games in a row now, the Twins have been in a game where a reliever posted a negative WPA among the leaders for the entire season so far (bottom 40 performances by any pitcher).  First, Cimber for Toronto gifted us with a -0.754 (keep in mind that a game is won or lost with just .500 aggregate among all a team's players), Pagan returned the favor the next game with -0.679, and last night Devin Williams told those two, "hold my beer," and served up a monstrous -0.907, basically turning a very likely win (up 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth is apparently a 90% shot historically give or take) into a 100% loss with the walkoff.

Good times, good times.  It would take some research to locate a span of three games on a par with these bullpen antics.

Tonight was the 5th time *in the last 14 games* that the Twins won a game in which their opponent had a 92% or higher win probability during the game. That's incredible - the difference between an angsty 34-33 and a five-alarm-fire 29-38. I'd like to think winning this way isn't sustainable, but buried in the (justified) anxiety during this current 14 game stretch is the fact that the Twins are pulling wins out of their opponents' butts and saving their season doing so.

Thanks for that post.   I haven't watched that many games but lately it has felt like if they have the lead and the statistical likelihood of winning when I have checked in they have ended up losing and that when they have been behind as you have stated they have come back and won.   Nice to know the feeling matches up with the reality.    Did any of our losses have a high win probability during the game?

I went through the whole season. The only loss where the Twins had over a 90% win probability was the Sunday loss at Toronto (thanks Pagan). They've had three losses where they've had at least an 85% win probability:

4/21 vs Washington 3-2 loss (had 87% win probability)

5/23 vs San Francisco 4-3 loss (89% win probability)

6/3 vs Cleveland 4-2 loss (85% win probability)

In addition to the five recent wins where their opponent has had 92%+ win probability (5/29 at Houston, 6/1 vs Cleveland, 6/9 at Toronto, 6/10 at Toronto and 6/13 vs Milwaukee), there's only been one other Twins win wherein the opponent had <85% win probability: 4/14 at New York.

There's been a few examples of wins and losses at the 80-84% win probability level, which basically cancel each other out. These are the most extreme examples.

The game was not available here in the Northeast so I have a question.

Why did Kepler pinch hit for Lewis?  Lewis is hitting almost 130 points higher than Kepler (and about 80 points higher against right-handed pitchers).  I thought metrics were the guide?  Did Lewis get hurt?

That's Rocco being Rocco  , I said the same thing , Lewis can hit righthanders but Rocco thinks the lefty match-upworks better ( huh ) , there has also been times where Kirilloff  has been pinch hit  for against lefthander and he can hit lefthanders ...

Your starters are your best players , not the bench  ...

Lewis is not hurt ...

I didn't see MAT's but the one Carlos hit was a no-doubter as soon as it left the pitcher's hand.  What a fat pitch, and C4 was ready for it and got it ALL.

So seems to fly in the face of popular opinion about the Twins blowing more games than most teams.
