Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Done deal per Jon Heyman. 3 years, $30 million.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 More money than I thought, but a good acquisition.

Veteran who put up good numbers and has World Series experience. Should be able to work with our young pitchers well too.
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Sweet. Murphy was obviously too dear a price to pay so this is excellent.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Not a huge needle mover, but an improvement for sure.
ashbury Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Well well! I call this good news too. That's 30 million less for Correa. Carlos better make up his mind in a hurry, before it's all gone! ?
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Good move. Need a catcher and he was second best on the market, best on the defensive side. Maybe this helps Correa decide the Twins are where he wants to be.

Yeah, catchers bore me, but others seem to really crave this position, so I’m happy they tossed us something to tide us over. $10M is peanuts in today’s free agent pay. This will have no impact on any other signings.
Steve71 Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Solid and necessary move. Keep 'er going FO.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 I like him a great deal more than Sanchez or Jeffers.

Guest Guests Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 3/$30M is a fantastic deal for an experienced game-caller who has a solid pop-time to 2B. Proven winner with Red Sox & Astros. Beloved locker room leader - Red Sox players were collectively broken when he was traded to Astros at the last deadline. He's said to be great at helping pitchers, and Twins will have a lot of young pitchers over the next 3 years who need the help. Also, he hits much better without the shift from what I recall. Signing Vazquez is an excellent move for the Twins. Love it. One down. What's next?
Guest Guests Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Who's feeling more optimistic this evening? Vazquez brings us one step closer to this becoming a reality...
Nashvilletwin Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Excellent addition - cost is fine too. Really checks all our boxes - strong defensively, good with a young staff, veteran presence, decent bat. Let’s get CC and some bullpen help and call it a day on the FA front

Replace Max with Gordon and maybe bat him #9 behind Vasquez as more of a speed guy on base for Arraez.
CRF Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 BOUT DAMN TIME! Let's keep it going!
Muppet Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 As good of a hitting catcher as we could hope to get. Defensive numbers look decent too. If his offensive numbers continue, he’d be one of the twins’ best hitters (unless everyone else picks it up a bit…. Which, hopefully they will).

For those who are into meaningless stats without context, Vazquez has hit best at 5th and 9th over his career. Spoke about Gordon being one of my personal favs in my newest video posted earlier this afternoon:

Meanwhile his numbers get better and better.
ICTwin25 Verified Member Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Very good FA signing in my opinion. Gary has power, but boy was he frustrating at times last year. Vazquez has been quite durable since 2019 and can actually hit lefties...something we all know this team cannot do.
