Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Tommy Watkins cannot be the third base coach next year. In fact there had better be an entirely new coaching staff next year. Can’t take any more of this garbage

Sure, he was juicing but he walked a **** ton of times. Nobody pitches around judge for some reason . Aaron Judge has been walked 80 times this year in 577 PAs (13.9%). Bonds was walked 177!!! times in 664 PAs (26.7%). Say whatever you want about Bonds, but he was hardly the only player juicing at the time, and no one else even sniffed his numbers. Barry Bonds is one of the 5 greatest hitters in MLB history.
garn from vancouver Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 they deserve to lose after running home on that hit.
Azviking101 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Regardless of who the twins 3rd base coach is, they’ve always been a closet Yankees fan
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Tommy Watkins needs fired if he sent Celestino. He has to be the worst third base coach in the league. They need to clean house completely.
RpR Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Didn't they bring Hamilton in for such situations?

Because I'm pretty sure the site would think it was stupid to bring in most anyone else in a close game. Who should have come in? I agree that is the problem. Can't really trust anyone besides Duran at the moment I guess
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Plays like that are the reason the Yankees own the Twins and they've lost 18 straight playoff games. Boneheaded plays when the game is on the line. Laughable.

So you think one anecdotal example using the best player ever is grounds to eliminate a run production statistic from every analysis ever done going forward? I would guess a player with more RBIs is better than a very high percentage of players with less RBIs. Like, well over 90%. Cleary not perfect, but I’ve always though throwing that out the window as a stat was absurd. At the end of the day, you still need to put the ball in play with authority with RISP to get the RBI. Something nobody on this roster can do regularly.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Incomprehensible how that happened
CRF Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Didn't matter that he slowed up rounding 3rd. He was out by a mile no matter what. Just a stupid move to send him by Watkins.

Azviking101 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 That is 100% on Watkins. Celestino slowed up like he should. He’s not looking at the RF. Watkins should be fired immediately and should have already

And that was in itself, very valuable. As for the strawman Trout in this question, who is superior? Some may be for a spell, but seriously....... that is a hell of a strawman. But you didn't ask me...... 2 minutes ago, USAFChief said: Rosario didn't have more RBI than Trout in either of those years. @Cap'n Piranha ... and I trusted your research!
IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Starting to appear that we're the poster boy for a worse case scenario just waiting to happen. Just why do we deserve this fate?
Beast Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 This team is so poorly managed/coached, I’m 100% confident they’d be better with no FO or management personnel like a town team.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Not everything that can be counted, counts. Not everything that counts, can be counted. How can a baserunning blunder that awful happen? Things like that cost games, or win games. I realize we need analytics. But we also need to find a way to play effing baseball.

The point remains--across those 2 seasons, Eddie had 151 RBI in 821 PAs, Trout had 150 RBI in 841 PAs. Since you said you will take RBI over any other offensive stat, are you willing to admit that you think for the two year span of 2019 and 2020, Eddie Rosario was a better offensive player than Mike Trout?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Nine innings of three run ball for the Twins pitchers. This is on the "offense". Arraez and CC really need to hit, or this team is done.
CRF Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 We need to get a manager and coaches in here, that actually KNOW the game of baseball and how to teach and play it. This is getting absurd.
umterp23 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Hamilton in the game in the 6th inning vs what he is on the bench for and not available in the 10th is on Rocco

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 The sad thing is that Hamilton is on the team for one and only reason, and today it was to score in the 10th on a single to right..... and he was not available when needed.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Utterly terrible. Please clean the house of this disaster

Pretty sure the analytics would say not to run on that hit.....maybe the coach just felt he'd make it. Went with his gut. We don't know.
