Still going to be some tough decisions when Polanco is ready, then Garlick and then Sano ... have to think a trade will be in the works. Before the season I was all for trading Arraez for pitching. Now ... I don't know who will be the trade candidates. Could be anyone not named Correa or Buxton, imo, but that's a different discussion. But, not everyone will fit on the active roster.

Depending on how he fares, he could be optioned to St. Paul of stay with the Twins either in the bullpen or the rotation.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2022 Posted June 22, 2022 Hmm. Happy he’s getting healthy, but I am conflicted.
Danchat Verified Member Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Quote Twins activated RHP Josh Winder from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul. Can't say I'm a fan of this. Bundy keeps his spot in the rotation, and hopefully Winder will be back soon.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 I'm in favor of Winder starting regularly in St. Paul. Yes, would rather see him be the double-header call than Sands, at the moment. The problem arises when Ober is put back into the mix. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/06/roster-moves-brewers-red-sox-twins.html

Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Y'know, too...when the Twins decide to activate Sano, they have to remove someone from the 40-man roster!
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 I frankly hope Cave gets his chance for redemption with another team. We've seen what he can and can't do and he's 29, 30 in December. It ain't uphill from here. Let him go be the 4th/5th OF on a below average team where he belongs. Larnach to the Il is certainly interesting. Contreras now goes when Polanco comes back and another hard decision is taken care of by an injury. When Polanco comes back he goes to 2B, Arraez to 1B, and Kirilloff to LF every day. Laranch gets 20 days (?) after recovery to rehab in St. Paul and maybe learn how to hit a slider. Kirilloff plays every day in LF, Celestino is the 4th OF, and Gordon is the 5th OF/backup SS/Super Utility. Miranda is the backup 3B/RH hitting 1B/DH. Personally, I'd rather see them give Miranda a month run as the everyday 3B since Urshela is a league average hitter and below average fielder so why not try for an upgrade? That's for another thread.

Danchat Verified Member Posted June 27, 2022 Author Posted June 27, 2022 It appears Larnach's injury was fairly serious, and he shouldn't be expected back until August. Even then, there's no guarantee it's going to be exactly 6 weeks.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I am assuming that despite his excellent start, Winder is going back to St. Paul. Has there been any confirmation of that? Also, I would assume there is no point for him physically to go back to Minnesota until the team does. He isn't going to pitch today or Thursday and the team returns on Friday.

With all the transactions the Twins have had, I thought there might be some chance that someone else would go on the IL (with Winder staying) or perhaps someone else sent to St. Paul.

This just gives them four more days for the Twins to use other pitchers and Winder will get called back up and will make his next start with the Twins IMO.
