Alcala to the IL

Hopefully it's just a quick trip where he was a little overheated from the start of the season, but it's worrisome. he was looking like an important arm.

I just hope it's not as bad as it sounds.

But when I hear elbow inflammation for a pitcher who throws that hard, I fear the worst. Especially considering how much his velo was down in Spring Training.

I wish him the best!

Why Jax?  Why not Minaya who could take over the same role.......

Jax is on the 40-man roster, Minaya is not.

I hope for the best but would not be surprised by the worst. There are limitations to what human bodies are capable of doing and elite athletes have a tendency to push beyond the limitations.

Sad for him, but hopeful he'll pitch for club again as soon as the healing - or surgery and recovery - will allow.

It's a reminder that depth matters. All MLB teams will get plenty of these reminders throughout the year. Go get 'em, Captain Jax. Maybe the reliever role will refresh his big-league career.

Darn.

He was a key part of this 'pen.

Maybe Winder steps into the Alcala role?

I wonder if it would be best to take any pitcher just signed from amateur status, and have them go through TJ surgery, first.

Even though it could happen again, it may reduce the chances.

[Praying to the baseball gods]...Please let this be a minor injury and let Alcala get back ASAP. Hasn't there been enough bad luck spent on Minnesota teams...especially last year in regard to the Twins...that aren't we due for a karma swing and have a little good luck for a change?

I HATE saying this...thinking I'm just going to "hex" the situation...BUT, if this somehow turns out bad...(currently wearing a Twins T-shirt and sending up yet another prayer to the BG)...having someone like Minaya available doesn't suck.

Twins site's article said his elbow was bugging him in ST too.

Never a good sign.

Agree. What is “normal” discomfort and when is something wrong? Hope for the best, but reality is that this could be a serious issue.
