Sano has been optioned, not to Rochester, not even Chattanooga, but Ft Myers. I think they are trying to send a message with this.

I wonder if this is to get him to work with a particular coach down there or something like that. Or if they are just telling him to get back to A ball and work his way back up.

Cave down, Grossman still on the roster.....

The Sano news is crazy. I'm hoping they can find a good veteran to take his place, someone with leadership and mentoring skills to help all the young players.....

Hopefully this is a demotion where he actually has to work his way back up to the MLB. Play a few weeks down in High A, then move to AA and then to AAA. Make him prove at each step he is making the steps needed to get back to the Show.

Wow, I am surprised they sent him all the way down that far. I'm sure it is to work with someone specific or something of that nature. Maybe they are going to break him all the way down and build him back up.

Send Buxton there too if he comes back and is terrible. These guys have totally disappointed and there are zero signs of them figuring anything out.

Like a baseball Billy Madison. I await the hijinks.

Seriously though, all the way to Single-A? I want to know why. Does it have to do with the trainers and medical facilities there? Is his leg not right, but not wrong enough to justify a DL stint?

That was my first thought

Wonder if they will treat Buxton the same...........

I'm going to guess Buxton's issues are entirely performance related.

And Sano's aren't.

So no, I'm betting they don't.

The argument that it is to work with a specific coach makes no sense to me. If we had a coach that was so much better than the rest of them in our organization, why is he coaching A ball?

I guess the FO is fully behind Molitor despite him now managing over two complete system failures.

Frankly, Kepler could use some time in the minors right now, too.  Since Sano got back, he's posted a 600 OPS and Kepler's posted a .603 OPS.  (Kepler's posted a .629 OPS since May 1).

What do you know about Sano?

What do you know about Sano?

Nothing.

But I can add 2 and 2 and get 4.

Buxton has always appeared to me, and has been reported as, earnest and hard working.

Sano has...not. For one thing--and I know this is unpopular around here among some--he is overweight.

A message being sent to guys on the roster that they can be...moved.

Can Granite play center and ignite? What is the fate of Grossman and LaMarre? Is Kepler suddenly looking at AAA time?

Can the Twins bring up a catching bat better than they have?

What to do about DH. Morrison a trust cause or a lost cause?

Do you start dangling Lynn and Gibson for some offense, not to mention any of the already overworked bullpen arms.

Will the front office see any issues with the coaching staff (beyond the NOT RIDE THE DANG BULLPEN CAR) and the field manager?

There are so many movable parts on this team and the value of each part changes daily, more often than not on a downward slide.

Maybe he is going down there to condition and get in shape? Honestly, he could use it. That and I'm sure this is kind of a wakeup call that he has to WORK if he wants to get better or he will flame out quickly.

I don't want to get into that discussion.

The way you phrased your post, I thought you meant that he was being demoted for some off the field incident/altercation that I hadn't read about.

Are the dietitians and physical trainers we have working with our high A affiliate better than the ones we have at Triple A?

I just don't see the point in sending him to high A. If he is hurt, DL him. If he isn't hurt, even a poorly playing Sano is going to massacre high A pitching and its a complete waste of time when he could be getting reps at triple A. If the coaches down there are so good that we are sending him there specifically for the coaches, then how about we fire the MLB coaches and get the high A coaches up here?

Seems like he is overall OK with this and understands that he just needs to clear his head, figure out his swing and he'll be back.

I'm assuming they consider the sauna- like conditions will bring the weight off faster. Other than that I've never even heard of such a thing.
